A "New" Feature to Protect Your WeChat Group

Say Goodbye to that secret inviter - WeChat Groups
If you are a WeChat Group owner or a member of multiple WeChat groups, you might have seen spammers entering the group, posting irrelevant comments, ads, or hundreds or even thousands of filthy content and then run away.
Since WeChat allows group members to limitlessly change group's "Group Alias" name (Group Alias = Nickname in the group), some took advantage of this feature to change their 'group alias' in the group to one existing (innocent) member, use the new name to invite the spammer, and change their name after the invitation. The group owner can never discover the real secret inviter because the invitation record shows the inviter group alias at the time of invitation, but not the current name.
The new feature allows the group admin to know every group member inviter's current group alias. This inviter name will be displayed on every member profile. Means, regardless how that secret inviter change their name in the group, the new name will be traced and displayed on the profile of invited members.
This feature can help WeChat group admins in protecting their groups by accurately identifying the secret inviter.
As we understand, WeChat is planning to introduce a new feature to WeChat groups allowing WeChat admins to set certain fees for members joining the groups levied through WeChat payment. This extra security measure would close a serious security problem in WeChat groups and probably a step further toward monetizing the groups.
This feature is currently available for Group admin using latest version of WeChat on iOS, but not available on Android. We expect Android new release to support this feature.
