Some people are offended to receive long voice messages. Sending a long voice message will end up wasting the other person’s time.
In fact, it’s a little bit selfish.
Sudden Voice and Video Chat Requests
Commonly, users will not schedule nor prepare a time for a voice/video chat with their friends. So they will randomly call them, and this leads to a lot of surprises for the receiver.
If the person is not familiar with random voice/video chat requests, it can make them feel uncomfortable or offended.
It's decent to ask in advance if the other person is available to talk. If it’s urgent, then a phone call is more formal than a voice chat.
Only Asking “Here”?
On WeChat, users cannot see if the other person is online or not. So, to remedy this, they ask if the user is “in” or “online” or “here”.
While this sounds polite and similar to hello, but it could annoy some people because they feel they are obliged to get immediately engaged in a conversation they are prepared for.
WeChat is not a face to face communication, so it’s it could cause a delay in communication if you don’t immediately start a conversation.
Sharing a Chat without Consent
When having a 1-on-1 chat, ’it’s assumed that the message between the two people will be private.
However, some will commonly share a screenshot of the messages to their other friends or even send it under their moments, without blurring out the personal information.
This is considered to be invasion of privacy and can be harmful to your friends.
Group Chat Spamming
Some users after entering a chat group, and without any advance permission or reading the group notice, they will send: Business card, promotional ad, "@all" message, QR code to promote their WeChat group or business; or ask group members to 'like' or 'vote' for their country or friends or best nightclub in town. Some would even go behind the group and add other group members by sending friend requests.
This can annoy group members if they suddenly have strangers asking to be accepted as friends.
Adding a friend that you don’t know could put you at risk, or at least annoyance.
Mass Message Abuse
“Cleaning Up WeChat, Message Test”. This may be something that you’ve encountered before.
Usually a user will send this if they are checking which users have deleted them from their friends list. This message is annoying and might result in people deleting that user.
Additionally, mass sent advertisements, asking for red packets, and even mass sharing articles can be annoying for other users. Even if the user is mass sending a holiday celebration message, it can be quite annoying for the receiver.
Chatting in Large Groups Without Considering Other Users
Some feel cool about holding non-relevant lengthy chit-chat within a large group.
While group members can mute the notifications, but they cannot ignore the massive amount of messages that they need to go through while looking for a certain content inside the group.
This also could make it easy for a user to miss any important announcement.
The 'suddenly' advertiser friend
While going through your WeChat moments, suddenly you find multiple amount of ads for: Chanel, Hermes, Gucci, Louis Vuitton with plenty of photos, as you quickly skip it and slide your moments down, they continue to appear one after another.
