她是华人银行家，也是“肚皮舞娘”和“美食主播”丨新中国人No.1

今天，双语君（微信ID：Chinadaily_Mobile）要隆重地为大家介绍中国日报欧洲分社推出的一个全新系列栏目《新中国人》（The New Chinese）。

何为“新中国人”？

端盘子、干杂工，拖家带口挣命，当今的海外中国人还是这么苦于生计么？绝对不是。

拿英国来说，新一代的旅英中国移民，有很多有学识、有地位、有眼界，更有思想和胸怀的代表，他们不断更新着西方世界对中国移民的陈旧认知。

在这档栏目里，我们将一起走进几位旅居英国的同胞，不论是银行家……

外交官……

还是教育家……

或是企业家……

他们不仅证明了自己，更树立了中国人在海外的新形象，成为“新中国人”。

今天，让我们先来认识一下吴放（Cecilia Wu），这个江南妹子几度放弃安稳的现状，不断挑战新环境，不仅在英国活出了多姿多彩的人生，而且心怀包容世界的梦想，因为她认为“新中国人”应该是一个“世界公民”。

漂洋过海 白手起家

眼前的Cecilia舞姿曼妙、活力四射。然而换上职业装，踩上高跟鞋，她的职业身份是英国顶级私人银行顾资银行（Coutts and Co. ）的一名高级财富分析员，每天穿梭在伦敦金融城。

在顾资银行供职是什么概念？

这家300多年历史的银行从20世纪开始，一直专门为英国皇室贵族以及各种富豪客户打理资产，也就是说 ，现任女王伊丽莎白二世就是他们的VIP客户。

Coutts and Co., with a history of more than 300 years, was established in 1692. It originally belonged to Thomas Coutts’s family but now is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland group. Until the 20th century the bank served British nobility and landed gentry. It still serves the British royal family but now also manages the assets of a wide range of wealthy clients.

扑面而来的高大上感觉有木有？

一个外国人如何能进入皇室御用银行供职呢？这对于很多英国人来说都是不可实现的梦想，Cecilia已经成为了其中的佼佼者，如此成功圆满的人生，还是几经曲折。

Cecilia出生在江西省的一个小镇，后随父母搬迁珠海，在那里生活了13年直到上完高中。高中毕业后，她第一次来到中国北方，在辽宁大学学习金融，两年后选择退学。

"I was born in a small town in Jiangxi province to a very creative and entrepreneurial family. My dad's an architect and my mum's (working) in a kindergarten, so I spent in Jiangxi probably about five years, until then we moved down to Zhuhai, and spent 13 years there for schooling."

"I didn't feel I really belonged there and therefore I kind of took a very tough decision. I basically gave up my degree there and came to the UK to pursue my bachelor's degree."

我觉得我并不属于那里，所以我做出了一个非常艰难的决定，就是放弃在辽宁大学已攻读两年的本科学位，来到英国重新开始读学士学位。

环境生，朋友少，如何融入新的环境，对于2008年来到英国Cecilia来说，挑战开始了。

"I remember the first night I went to the pub and then two o'clock in the morning when we walked back to the uni and no one really talked to me, and I was like following them at the back behind. But then at that point I was telling myself, I said, 'Ceci you know what, you can do this. You know you can make a lot of great friends. You're going to make your new life here.'"

我记得自己第一次去酒吧的那个晚上。凌晨两点钟，当我们走回大学校园时，没有人跟我说话，我就像在后面尾随他们的人一样。但那时，我就告诉自己，Ceci你知道吗，你可以做到的，你可以结交很多的好朋友，你将在这里展开你的新生活。

不忘初心 方得始终

本科毕业后，Cecilia选择在英国继续攻读投资管理硕士学位，也就是在这时，她开始渐渐萌生了毕业后要去顾资这样顶级的私人银行工作的想法。

"What I did is basically just do some research and found out the top 10 best private banks in the UK and made a list and somehow Coutts just jumped out on the paper straight away. I think it's because of the history and also the character."

（在申请工作之前），我做了一些调查研究，罗列出英国前十的私人银行。不知怎么回事，顾资就一下子吸引了我，我想是因为顾资的历史和特点。

她申请了顾资的管培生项目，结果不出所料，没能入选。

但是，Cecilia目标明确，初心不改，她继续尝试，为自己赢得了一个在苏格兰皇家银行工作的机会，算是实现了一个小目标。

原来，顾资银行原属Thomas Coutts家族，后来成为苏格兰皇家银行集团的一部分，这一步可算是打进了集团内部。

“I got a phone call. 'Oh actually I know you're not successful for Coutts because positions were filled up but we've got our RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) retails schemes if you wanted to join and if you wanted to apply because we really liked you, and then they were like there was private banking there as well.'"

我接到了一个电话，对方说：“其实我们知道你没能入选顾资的项目，因为那边人已经满了，不过如果你愿意加入的话，我们现在有苏格兰皇家银行的零售银行管培生项目可供申请。我们非常看好你，并且这个项目也涉及私人银行业务。”

她果断接受了这份工作，实现梦想已经在路上！

"I mean my first plan was to get through the door first and then try to work my way around I'm sure I can get there."

我想说的是，我最初的打算是先入门，再试着一步一步争取自己想要的。我相信我能做到。

Cecilia是这个职位3000个申请人中唯一入选的中国人，又凭借在苏格兰皇家银行管培生项目中的优异表现很快晋升。

一步一步脱颖而出的Cecilia却从未放弃终极梦想，她一直对顾资银行保持关注，寻求机会跳槽。

想做成一件事，办法总比困难多。

为了接触到顾资的内部，Cecilia花了不少心思：积极关注任何与顾资有关的信息和人士，同时她掌握到顾资银行一位资深员工的信息，并主动与之取得了联系，希望这名员工能成为她的导师。经过多次的交流和沟通，导师被Cecilia的积极向上主动进取的态度打动。

机会总留给有准备的人，导师在顾资出现职位空缺的时候推荐了Cecilia,  在集团内部努力多年的Cecilia也不负众望拿下了面试。

故事讲到这里，似乎是个圆满的结局，然而， 摆在Cecilia面前的是一个更艰难的选择：

"At the same time, basically I was also actually a private banking manager looking after a portfolio in Canary Wharf, so I was like, 'Should I stay as a private banking manager working in a fancy Canary Wharf building or should I come to Coutts and learn from the bottom?'"

当时我已经是私人银行经理了，在金丝雀码头有属于自己的客户群。当时我问我自己，我是应该继续留在光鲜亮丽的金丝雀码头做一个私人银行经理，还是应该去顾资从零开始学习？

最终，在安逸的现状和多年的梦想之间，Cecilia选择了坚持初心。她毅然决定来到顾资，从头开始，并最终在这个梦想中的公司里有了属于自己的位置。

白领生活家

脱下职业装，走进操课厅，Cecilia成了一个肚皮舞娘，黄皮肤姑娘和肚皮舞更配的有木有？

"I discovered belly dancing in a gym and I really loved it, because you know with Oriental and Egyptian cultures, and I think belly dancing is a way for women to express themselves in a sensual way, in a beautiful way, so much emotion, with the dancing and movement. And it can make a woman like me very confident about myself. And so it's a way of expressing yourself really."

我在健身房发现了肚皮舞这种舞蹈，并且非常喜欢。在东方和埃及文明中，肚皮舞可以让女性通过这一感官的、美好的方式，伴随着舞蹈和律动，感情饱满地展现身体美。它可以让像我一样的女孩变得更加自信，并且可以真实地展现自我。

工作忙，跳舞累，没有美食犒劳自己怎么可以。Cecilia不仅养成了为自己准备健康、美味的饮食习惯，热爱分享的她运营了一个叫《Ceci的厨房》烹饪博客，晒美食，晒配方，专门为上班族提供解决午饭问题的妙招。

"It comes from the idea as I found most people don't know what to bring for lunch, and because as working professionals, we are super busy, so I just thought why can't I help them?"

灵感来自于我发现大多数人都不知道午餐该吃什么，作为上班族，我们都太忙了，所以我就想为什么我不能帮帮他们呢？

有事业、有生活，怎不令人羡慕呢？

世界大同  不容定义

在中国出生，接受了中英两种教育，供职英国皇家银行，在英国生活工作十年，找到了属于自己的生活，Cecilia是这样理解中国文化的：

"I think Chinese are very forward-looking and open-minded. We're very open because we are a mix of cultures and we're very open to different new ideas and new things." 

我认为中国人的思维非常具有前瞻性和开放性。开放是因为我们融合了不同文化，乐于接纳各种新想法和新事物。

因此，Cecilia认为自己更像一个世界公民：

"I feel really proud to be a Chinese living in London. But I think sometimes it's probably more down to the person itself as well, because I don't want to frame only a Chinese, English, kind of pigeonhole on ourselves. I think it's more sort of we're global citizens and everybody is the same."

作为生活在伦敦的中国人我非常自豪。但我认为你的归属有时候更多的取决于自己的想法，因为我不想把自己单纯地定义为一个中国人，或者一个英国人，类似这种条条框框。我认为我们更像是世界公民，每个人都一样。

有着包容世界的情怀，Cecilia希望利用自己的财富管理技能，在英国和中国之间架起桥梁。

"I want to bring obviously the culture. I think really the culture needs to be integrated. So I think for me I can play a role in that, and be the ambassador for what the new Chinese is like or what the new China is like. That probably sounds a bit too big, but that's what I want to do and particularly in the private banking and wealth management space."

显然我想带来中国的文化。但现在我认为文化需要相互交融。所以我想我可以在这方面发挥一些作用。至于定义为新中国人或新时代中国的形象大使，这可能听起来有点太大了。但这正是我想要做的，特别是在个人银行业务和财富管理领域。

中国人可以作为英国富豪的理财师，可以引领英国白领的健康时尚生活。
