本期驻地艺术家｜Gilles Jacot New Artist In Residence
工作室项目空间很高兴与瑞士文化基金会上海办公室合作，邀请到了Gilles Jacot作为本期的驻地艺术家。他将从1月2日起至3月31日，展开为期三个月的驻地创作。期间，我们会有不定期的讨论活动与工作室开放日，期待大家的加入！同时，欢迎大家在艺术家驻地期间来工作室探访交流！
Studio PROJECT is glad to collaborate with Pro Helvetia Shanghai to invite Gilles Jacot, as our new artist-in-residence from January 2nd to March 31th. During this three-month residency period, Gilles will be giving several themed artist talks and showcasing his final project on the Open Studio event. Please stay tuned for more details! At the same time, if you are interested in our artist's practice, we welcome you to pay us a studio visit and know more about Gilles's works!
“我的创作动机来源于我与新环境之间的冲突、对抗。我对许多文化和社会现象感兴趣。城市中纯粹的视觉上的、历史上的细节，与政治有关的制度或者甚至是人与人之间的差异，都在某种程度上成为我的灵感。
社会、文化和日常物品创设不同的情境，提供不同的遗产底蕴，而不同兴趣领域则在此间相互冲突、碰撞。
在我的作品中，我直面了由这些场景所引出的问题和情绪——这些问题常常会被艺术家所忽略，或是难以由传统媒介创作来解决。”
"My motivation lies in the confrontation with new environments. I am interested in a multitude of
cultural and social phenomena. Be it pure visual details, historical, related to the political
system or even just lying in human differences, they all inspire me in some way.
Society, cultures and everyday objects create situations, legacies and heritages in which a lot of different fields of interest bump into each other.
In my work, I try to look at the questions or affections raised by these situations. Questions that are
often overlooked or difficult to face with common media."
“我相信上海是一个开阔我的眼界并且赋予我作品新意义的地方。这是一个让我能够以不同方式面对各种“极致”概念的地方。这也有利于更直观地展现出这个城市所处的不同进程的优缺点。在整个驻地创作期间，我会更加深入地去考察类似上海这样的城市所面临的问题，并且也很期待这样的新环境与我的作品会擦出怎样的火花。”
"I believe that Shanghai would be a perfect new environment for me to develop my visions and also give new meanings to my work. It is a place where is possible to be confronted with “the extreme” in many different fields and ways. This has the interest of showing more directly the advantages and disadvantages of different processes that take place in a city. Through a residency program I could get closer to the questions that a city like Shanghai rises and I am curious to see how the new environment will emerge in my work."

Gilles Jacot生于1990年，现工作生活于苏黎世。他的创作涵盖油画、雕塑和装置艺术等形式。他曾担任过建筑模型制造的学徒，这段生涯教会了他如何从远处观察并专注于细节。他试图将这种观点或感受通过艺术实践，提升到更概念化的水平和更广泛化的物质层面上。
Gilles Jacot was born in 1990, is now working and living in Zürich. He workes in the field of visual art via various media such as oil painting, sculpture and installation. His apprenticeship as an architectural model builder taught him how to take distance, observe and simultaneously focus on details. In his artistic practice, he tries to combine this view, or feeling, with a more conceptual one and on a broader material level.
