开幕邀请 Opening | THINK LESS STUPID MORE

随着工作室项目空间年底大戏《2019 艺术家跨年讲演合集》的圆满落幕，受之鼓舞，工作室画廊将在2020年更大程度地拥抱可能，呈现真实，直接，触动人心的展览。

新年的首展，工作室画廊将迎来法国艺术家亚历山大·巴瓦德（Alexandre Bavard）在中国的首展，没错，就是他，就是去年在我们的艺术家讨论活动上人气爆棚的那个亚历山大·巴瓦德（Alexandre Bavard）!

说起艺术家，科班出身的巴瓦德从来不会给人负担刻板的印象，相反，他总是放松，有趣，不拘泥于任何媒介，而在每一个媒介和每一种形式中极大程度地投入作为一个艺术家的专业度。让观众在作品中收获各自的体验，也正因如此，创造体验，成为了巴瓦德创作中最大的动力。

那么在上海，他都感觉到了什么？又要给我们创造一种什么体验？！来听听艺术家自己怎么说的：

上海，2020年1月，

电动踏板车在南京东路宽阔的林荫大道上飞驰。

当夜幕降临时，那些毛衣、连帽衫、皮草、口罩、人们的身份也随之变得不再清晰。

工人们正搭着脚手架。拔地而起的高楼。一种金属般的声音从竹竿架中传到路人的耳朵。

这个城市的节奏随着秩序的哨声抑扬顿挫。

百货商场的灯光照亮了灰色而失重的天空，霓虹灯反射在湿透的人行道上。

在人群中间，某一件T恤衫上露出一句话：“少些思考，多些愚蠢” ，在升腾的烟雾间如警示一般亮起。

-关于展览 About The Exhibition- 

Inspired by the successful ending of the Studio Annual Artist Talk 2019 event initiated by Studio PROJECT, Studio Gallery will embrace the new possibility to a greater extent in 2020, presenting authentic, direct and touching exhibitions to our audience.

For the very first exhibition in 2020, Studio Gallery is thrilled to present the first solo exhibition of French artist Alexandre Bavard in China. Yes, it is him! The artist who was very popular in our ARTIST TALK event last summer!

As to the artist,  Alexandre Bavard, who came from a professional training background, but he is never that kind of stereotype. On the contrary, he is always relaxed, interesting and open to different media, however, he devotes a great deal of professionalism as an artist in every media and in every form he explores and lets the audience harvest their own experience in the works. Because of this, creating unique experiences has become the biggest driving force in his creation.

So how does he feel about Shanghai? and what kind of experience he would create for us in Studio Gallery?! Here is the motif of this exhibition:

Shanghai, January 2020.

Scooters parade along the wide boulevards of East Nanjing Road.

Sweaters, hoodies, furs, masks, identities become dark when the night falls.

Workers build scaffolding. The towers rise. A metallic sound ricochets from bamboo to the ears of passers-by.

The urban rhythm cadences with the sound of whistles.

Shopping malls illuminate the gray sky in weightlessness with their LEDs. Neon reflections shine on the soaked sidewalk.

In the middle of the crowd, lighting up like a warning in the night, smoke reveals a sentence on a T-shirt: "THINK LESS, STUPID MORE"

-关于艺术家 About The Artist-

亚历山大·巴瓦德（Alexandre Bavard）生活在巴黎，曾就读于里昂国立美术学院。他的工作可以被视为一位剧作家或者说一位翻译者。他的作品包括雕塑、影像、音乐和舞蹈。在巴瓦德（Alexandre Bavard）格鲁吉亚的血缘、科幻小说以及他对于发现和逃避的内在诉求交织在一起的影响下，他迷恋于创造不同的体验。

巴瓦德对创造一种视觉语言很感兴趣，一种超越任何特定媒介的表达形式，而重复、运动和流动是其燃料。在他涉猎广泛的作品之下，他所关心的主题是“后城市世界”的主题，过去乌托邦的重要文物，其重要性早已丧失，并以文物的形式重新利用。

Alexandre Bavard is based in Paris and is a former student of the National School of Fine Arts of Lyon. He can be considered a playwright and an interpreter. His work ranges from sculpture to video, music and dance. Bavard creates different universes influenced by his Georgian roots, science fiction and the need for escape and discovery.

Alexandre is interested in creating a visual language, a form of expression that transcends any specific medium and is fueled by repetition, movement and flow. His wide range of works is related to the theme of a post-urban world, significant artifacts of a past utopia whose importance has long been lost and reused in the form of relics.
