为落实中共中央与国务院关于建设世界一流大学和一流学科的重大战略决策，教育部于2017年9月21日正式公布了“双一流”建设高校及建设学科名单，中国高等教育从此再上一层楼，正式步入了新时代。随着中国综合国力的增强和世界地位的提升，中国高校也更多地加入到全球高等教育领域的竞争，世界也更多地关注中国教育的发展。与此同时，一系列重要问题值得我们深入思考：中国的高等教育发展是否与其经济实力相匹配？在愈演愈烈的全球人才竞争中，究竟哪些是高校胜出的关键因素？谁又将成为21世纪全球教育卓越领导者的标杆？带着这些疑问，人大重阳特邀请哈佛大学中国研究专家柯伟林教授来院进行专题讲座，结合其对中、美、德大学的一系列案例研究，与大家一同分享他对未来高校教育领导力塑造的见解。

The World of Universities in the 21st Century: The Race for Leadership in Higher Education

Reflecting a desire to better implement the Central Committee and State Council’s key strategic decision to construct world-class universities as well as disciplines, higher education in China entered a new era with the promulgation on September 21st 2017 of the list of world-class universities and disciplines. With increases in China’s overall strength and world status, its universities are increasingly competitive in international higher education, with global attention increasingly focused on Chinese educational development. At the same time, a number of seeking questions have arisen for consideration. Will its higher education be commensurate with its economic clout? In the increasingly fierce competition for global talent, what will it take for universities to come out on top? Who will assume global leadership in 21st-century education? With these questions in mind, Chongyang Institute of Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY) invites Professor William Kirby from Harvard to share his thoughts on the future of educational leadership for universities. This seminar draws on case studies from German, American and Chinese universities.

William C. Kirby is T. M. Chang Professor of China Studies at Harvard University and Spangler Family Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School. He is a Harvard University Distinguished Service Professor. He serves as Director of the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies and Chairman of the Harvard China Fund. He also sits on the Council of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China(RDCY).
