Ibrahim: Virus Recognizes No Border, Neither Does Art

EPC CentralChinaNormalUniversity 2021-03-03

Through the epidemic we witnessed how people around the world can work together, making contributions in their own ways to fight against the epidemic. Bangladeshi Ibrahim who studies at the School of Fine Arts of CCNU is one of them.

He is very passionate about art and in his paintings he showed how Chinese heroes fought against COVID-19 from a unique perspective. He believes that virus recognizes no border, neither does art.

Passing on courage through art

Ibrahim felt sorrowful when he saw the city, Wuhan, became much more desolate because of the epidemic, so he decided to record the stories of those selfless heroes by painting.

During this tough period, Ibrahim has created five pieces of works, four of which were displayed on the art exhibition named Under the Rock” . And all the income of the exhibition was donated to charities. He showed us the selfless dedication of the devoted medical staff and cleaners. He said, “All of the medical workers, volunteers and workers are admirable for they are facing the virus directly. We can never forget their contributions.” As for him, painting is a silent but powerful way to express his admiration and gratitude precisely and convey the conviction of the triumph over the epidemic directly. These series of art works were dedicated to Wuhan and all people who fought for its recovering. Wuhan is not only the most hit area in China, but also his second hometown.Dating back to 2015, Ibrahim had already found his close ties to China. At that time, he was awarded the first prize in an exhibition named Beautiful China and Beautiful Bangladesh, which was held by Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Bangladesh-China Friendship Center jointly and was given a chance to exchange in Changsha, Hunan. This short trip left him a deep impression. Soon he got an opportunity to study further in CCNU in 2017. It was Wuhan where Ibrahim found his dream and continued pursuing it.
After going back to Bangladesh, he was worried about Wuhan. But he soon adjusted his mind and he knew that he should shoulder the responsibility for Wuhan as an artist and student studying there.

Deep love for Chinese painting

At an early age, Ibrahim began to come into contact with art. He often sat alone in his room and painted for most of the day. With his hard work and talent, he created many amazing works and began to emerge in painting. After the college entrance examination, Ibrahim clearly realized that art is his favorite field. Since then, he has embarked on a professional art learning journey.

Long-term learning, Ibrahim came to CCNU to continue studying for his Master's Degree at the School of Fine Arts. Here Chinese painting attracted him as a completely different form of artistic expression.

Ibrahim has been studying Chinese ink painting for a long time, last December, he created his first ink-wash painting. The thick ink of this painting is dotted with delicate red plums, which shows the elegance of Chinese art. This success doubled Ibrahim’s confidence in helping cultural exchange.

A Yang Leifeng Volunteer

Ibrahim is a member of the Yang Leifeng Volunteering Group. He often participates in education support activities, bringing a touch of bright light to children’s lives. Ibrahim ever taught children words and letters by means of painting. He was good at giving methodical and patient guidance.
He just did what he could and should do. "Yang Leifeng is a big family, and we are all family members. Here we share love without boundaries," said Ibrahim.
