Romance of the Three Kingdoms三国演义

It is a historical novel depicting battles, wars, social conflicts and transformations from the Eastern Han dynasty to the Western Jin dynasty. Among the period the Three Kingdoms are the major domains. The plot of the story focuses on Liu Bei, reflecting the author’s tendency that he held Liu Bei in high regard while was against the other two Kingdoms. 

There are many characters that would definitely impress readers, for instance, Zhu Geliang, Cao Cao, Guan Yu and Liu Bei. The linguistically panoramic descriptions of wars and battles are also another highlight of the book.

This classic is far more than a love story. It offers 120 chapters of stories telling the romance between Jia Baoyu, Lin Daiyu and Xue Baochai, and the rise and fall of the four households, as in Jia, Shi, Xue and Wang Households. 

The full blown descriptions of characters’ dispositions through different perspectives have left a great impression to many. It is thought inducing as the book is loaded with profundities of philosophical ideas, Chinese medicine, tea culture, festivities, proverbs, Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, filial piety and etc.
