Beijing - A China Southern Airlines flight from Dhaka to Guangzhou will be suspended for four weeks from June 22 due to concerns about Covid-19 infections, China’s aviation regulator said on Sunday.
Seventeen passengers on a June 11 flight from the Bangladeshi capital to the southern Chinese city tested positive for the coronavirus, meeting the conditions for a “circuit breaker” suspension of the service, the Civil Aviation Administration of China in a statement.
4 new asymptomatic carriers were also reported, 3 arrived from Bangladesh and 1 from Egypt.
China is using a reward and punishment system for all airlines. If a carrier operates for three weeks consecutively without imported cases, it will be given an opportunity to open one more flight to China each week. However, if the carrer reaches 5 confirmed passengers then it will be suspended for one week. If the number reaches 10, operations will be suspended for four weeks.
