Earlier today, a report by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Armenia circulated online raising hopes for many people especially students who are eager to return to continue their studies in China. The original notice in Armenian read as follows:

The translation as translated by Wechat translator:

The consensus is that "gradual reopening has finally began" and Armenia, which coincidentally starts with A, is the first country in which citizens will finally have a free movement of people with China.

That was until I opened the report again this afternoon and found that it has changed. Now it reads:

Well, if you have OCD like me, you will quickly notice that the first paragraph has two lines, and it is shorter than the one in the earlier/original notice -- the first paragraph in the earlier notice had three lines.

And when you translate the new notice, you find

  1. The title is "Report on restoration of partial consular service for Armenian citizens."

  2. There are no mentions of education and visa anymore.

What prompted the change in the title and the contents of the first paragraph remains unknown. Only those in Armenia can confirm whether they can get a visa to return to China.

Conclusion: Considering what is going on now in China, it seems the original report was a mistake and the embassy changed the notice as soon as they spotted the mistake.
