Weixin Cracks Down on Porn and Contraband on the Platform

On March 7, Weixin released a notice showing results of it's recent crack down on pornographic and illegal marketing activities by personal accounts on the platform.
The notice said that Tencent, the parent company of Weixin, has recently dealt with violations on the platform, such as publishing pornographic materials, the accounts proved to be violating the rules were punished and their username and IDs were made public.
Publishing and Disseminating Pornographic and Vulgar Contents:
Publishing and disseminating pornographic and vulgar content on the network platform seriously violates relevant national laws and regulations, and the values of Weixin platform.
Weixin team has strengthened the crackdown on users who maliciously released pornographic and vulgar information through moments and chat groups, in the form of cloud hosted porn materials' links, sharing videos, porn website links, and even organizing prostitution.
As of January 2022, after receiving user's complaints and complete verification of the complaints, Weixin handled 23,870 personal accounts responsible for spreading pornographic and vulgar contents on the platform, and 2,600 chat groups responsible for disseminating pornographic and vulgar contents.
Some of the accounts that were dealt with for such violations were made public.
Selling Prohibited or Illegal Products
The platform also announced that it cracked down on sellers of prohibited goods and contrabands on the platform.
In January 2022, they handled a total of 6,560 personal accounts involved with publishing "illegal and contraband" products, and 3,019 chat groups for publishing "illegal and contraband" products after receiving evidence through user complaints.
Violations
Weixin personal accounts shall not publish, display or disseminate any kind of prohibited or "illegal and contraband" marketing information, including but not limited to the following examples:
Aphrodisiacs
Buying and selling Weixin Account
Illegal health care products
Some of the accounts that were dealt with for selling illlegal goods and contraband were also published online.
