China's National Immigration Administration published a notice warning foreigners not to fall for fraudulent activities targeting foreigners and local citizens. The loose translation of the notice (shown above) is as shown below:
Recently, some public members reported receiving calls from this number 010-66265110 from criminals who pretended to be staff from National Immigration Administration.
On the calls they identified as immigration officers telling the victims that their passports have expired, is fake or has been used by others for exit-entry purposes. They would go on to defraud the victims after gaining their trust.
The National Immigration Administration clarified that they do not use this number 010-66265110, advising people to hang up the phone as soon as they receive such calls.
-Do not provide any valid personal information or transfer money to any account that is connected to such activity.
-When in doubt, use official applications such as "Yiminju" to check your passport and exit-entry records to confirm.
-Call 12367 to request any information regarding your passport and exit-entry status.
NIA will continue to strengthen its fight against cross-border crimes and protect people's life and property. Thanks for your support.
