Duke Kunshan University, DKU, has sent an email to the first batch of its international students approved to apply for a return to China.
Students who received the emails are reportedly from the US, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Russia, France, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand, Egypt, South Africa, and Singapore, according to one of the students who shared the news.
"We are writing to share the exciting news that you have been included in the first batch of DKU international students whose entry into China has been approved!" read the email.
International students shared their excitement as this is a sign of either a gradual or fully opening of the borders to international students stuck abroad.
By now only international students from Thailand, Solomon Islands and Russia have been confirmed to have returned in batches while all South Korean students were given a green light to return to China back in 2020.
Other students from Bangladesh and Pakistan have reportedly sucessfully applied for visas and the first batch of international students from Pakistan are expected to land in China next week.
