Update: Applying for Work and Residence Permit in Shenzhen

It goes without saying that to work legally in Shenzhen, one must obtain a work and residence permit issued by the relevant authorities. Let's go through the updated process of obtaining a work permit and residence permit in Shenzhen as issued by the Shenzhen Entry-exit Bureau posted today (August 9).
1st Step
First of all, you must log in to the "Shenzhen Foreigner Intergrated Service management Platform" official website. Copy the web address below and then open it on a web browser. When opened, you will see the page as the above screenshot, from there you can click on the highlighted part.

2nd Step
You will be required to fill in your basic information and upload relevant materials to support your application. You can choose to apply for both work and residence permit at the same time, or choose to apply for a single permit at a time.
3rd Step
After passing the preliminary online application approval, you will receive an SMS informing you to bring original application documents to window no. 51 of the Foreigner Employment and Residence Service Center in the East Hall of the Administative Service of Shenzhen Citizen Center.
Here the staff will receive your documents and process them.
4th Step
The processing time takes about 7 working days, after which you can go to Citizen Center to pick the permit(s) in person or opt to receive them by mail.
