Fresh baked goods, streams of strong quality coffee, and artisan ice creams are what you’ll find at Luneurs Boulanger & Glacier. They have so many locations now it’s hard to keep track: etc. Chances are there’s already one in your neighborhood.
Their signature flavors are sea salt caramel, dark chocolate, and pistachio. New seasonal flavors include cheese cake, shiso chocolate curls, red dragon fruit sorbet, and kalamansi & orange sorbet.

Azabuya is a Japanese cafe and ice creamery that’s all about matcha. They have 3 intensities of matcha on offer. Level 1 matcha is good, but Level 3 matcha is amazing. Though, one whole serving of Level 3 matcha can be a lot to handle. They also have flavors of cookies and cream, black sesame, black chocolate, raspberry, etc.

Charbon is a restaurant by acclaimed chef Paul Pairet (Polux, Ultraviolet, Mr & Mrs Bund) located in . In addition to flame-grilled skewers, Charbon has some pretty awesome soft serve ice creams. The ice creams and sorbets are freshly churned in house, served as sundaes, shakes, granités, etc.

Another restaurant that also deserves to be on this list is . New to their menu is "The Cannery Creamery" section, featuring ice creams made with French cream and all-natural flavors. They have specialty ice creams like bourbon old-fashioned and lavender honey, fruity flavors of rhubarb & tarragon and sage-lemon, and classics of salty caramel and buttermilk.

Emack & Bolio's is a Boston-based ice-cream parlor that's set up shop at the basement level of . The brand is known for its over-the-top Insta-famous ice creams.
They have a "marshmallow cone" that gels sugary treats like cereal or Oreo cookie crumble with spun marshmallow. (Personally, I think the cones are superfluous, and is perhaps there just to satiate childhood nostalgia.) The ice creams are good, though!
They have more than 20 flavors, but only offer 11 daily. Roll of the dice if you’re a fan of certain flavors. Ice creams are flown in directly from the US. Vegan, non-dairy options available.

A newcomer on . As if the street needed more ice cream parlors! Yisid’s gelatos are pretty good as far as I can tell.
They have a mix of traditional and creative flavors, including Musang King Durian (very good), Hershey's Special Dark, Hokkaido Milk, Yangmei Xueba, Glutinous Sweet Potato, and something called “Ocean Blue Bath".

On the quieter end of Yongkang Lu is , a tiny hole-in-the-wall scooping a more traditional brand of gelato. There are about 10 flavors available. The eye-popper is the bittersweet 97% dark chocolate, which I really like. Other flavors include butter & salted caramel, pistachio, tiramisu, oolong, coffee, etc.
How Much: ¥25 for one flavor, ¥40 for two, ¥50 for three; cone (add ¥5) or cup. Tubs are ¥148 for 500g, two flavors.

Dip In Gelato is known for their funky combinations and obscure flavors that rotate seasonally, including avocado & passion fruit, coconut & banana, tequila & kaffir lime leaf, jackfruit, malted milk white coffee, Earl Grey cheesecake, and more. Cornerstone ice cream shop Bonus is one of the longest standing artisanal parlors in Shanghai, and possibly the first ice cream shop to open on (the first artisanal one at least).
They do bold combinations. Their most famous flavor is the salted egg yolk. Flavors rotate and may include: jasmine tea, osmanthus litchi and barley, lavender and white chocolate, salted caramel, and yuzu. Some are alcoholic and some are dairy-free.
How Much: Single scoop from ¥25, two from ¥40.

Buco is an ice cream window attached to Alimentari Grande. If you do order ice cream from any other Alimentari, it'll be the same one. Very Italian flavors, including amaretto, pistachio, Nutella, chocolate orange, etc. Pro-tip: Sign up as a Popolo Group member on WeChat, the restaurant group does kickbacks with their point collection system.

Did we ever need square-shaped ice cream? Well, on Yongkang Lu is giving us that option regardless. It’s all yogurt-based cubes or granita. I'm a fan of durian, so I quite liked their "pebble-shaped" durian granita; flavor was good. Other cubic offerings include coconut, yangmei, salted caramel and cheese (like frozen cheesecake), and “rainbow”.
How Much: ¥38 for small, ¥43 large, granitas from ¥38.

Mimilato is a boutique shop that specializes in flavors made with ingredients sourced from around China. I find that they do more sorbets than they do ice creams. Flavors rotate seasonally, including shiso & plum, peach sorbet, fig and Tokaj Hungarian sweet wine, oolong, edamame, highland barley wine, stracciatella with mint and chocolate, and more.
