成立于2009年，Hato Press 是位于伦敦的独立印刷和出版工作室，与不同的艺术家合作，并专注于以 Risograph 方式印刷。Risograph 与丝网印刷原理类似，Risograph 是机器运作而丝网印刷是人力运作，都是通过将内容分层分色，达到套色的效果。Risograph 机器会将图形转化成半色调（halftone）的模式来进行印刷任务，成果会带有细微的小孔。

Studio Hato 是 Hato Press 的姐妹工作室，业务以平面设计和体验设计为主。

Emily Rand is an illustrator living in East London. Her first children’s book A Dog Day was published by Tate in 2014. Alongside illustration Emily creates educational workshops for children and young people.

-  liquidity, data flows and dirty hands by Xavier Antin  -

This publication documents the workshop 'device for liquid image', led at l'Antenne du Plateau, Frac lle-de-France (Paris), in April 2016. Participating artists include: Bartoloméo, Emmie, Ismaël, Gabriel, Lino, Matthieu, Nell and Virgile.

Xavier Antin is a Paris-based graphic designer and artist who experiments with large and small scale models of production in print. Using standardised tools, Xavier re-appropriates their use to develop new methods for creating distinct visual stories. liquidity, data flows and dirty hands uses various ink colours and a standard scanner.

-  Martha's Moths by Joe Gamble  -

Martha is the world’s youngest giant-moth collector. She has all but except one in her otherwise complete collection. When she decides to let them fly free, little does she expect them to take her so far from home! Joe Gamble’s debut picture book is a sweet and imaginative tale about the little unknown marvels we discover in the world.

Joe Gamble is a London based artist and illustrator, working across a range of mediums, including acrylic, collage and charcoal. He has been commissioned to work for clients such as Arsenal FC, the Barbican and YCN London. He has had his work exhibited across the UK and is a member of Niles Collective. Martha’s Moths is his debut picture book with Little Hato.

Risograph 是一种比较特殊的印刷工艺，（我还没找到中文翻译...）很多人喜欢 Risograph 是痴迷于他带来的细微小孔以及色块的不均匀感。不熟悉的朋友可以想象一下比较老式的复印机，通常复印出来会带一些不规则的痕迹。这个通常 Risograph 的印刷品也会有这种不规则的感觉。

这也让 Hato Press 在众多独立出版社中变得与众不同。之前介绍过另外两家同样位于伦敦的独立出版社 Unit Editions 和 Browns Editions，感兴趣的可以点击链接查看。

在 Risograph 的加持下，Hato Press 的出版物都是比较小本、比较精致的，基本上以插画为主。选择以上三个作品的原因是为了体现 Risograph 对于不同风格的表现力。当然 Risograph 不限于插画，就像大家比较熟悉的丝网印刷（Screen printing / Silkscreen printing），也可以有各种不同发挥。另外在各大设计展都会看到 Hato Press，是因为他们也侧重在教育，Hato 的客户中有很多教育机构，会定期举办 Workshops，欢迎各个年龄层次参与，也算一种创意开发。
