“Paper inspires them for its versatility, infinite range of colors and unique textures.”

Zim & Zou 是由两位法国艺术家 Lucie THOMAS 和 Thibault ZIMMERMANN 组成，是学习平面设计（包括设计、出版、广告）出身的。他们俩后来决定抛开电脑，专注在用纸张、毛线、木头等手工打造装置艺术，从草图、切割到安装。

Zim & Zou 的客户包括 IBM，Microsoft，TIME，The Washington Post，Der spiegel，Centre Pompidou等等，并获得纽约ADC Young Guns和柏林Illustrive Award等奖项。

本期介绍 Zim & Zou 为 Hermès 定制的橱窗设计以及为一个私人展览定制的水下生物系列。

-  Forest Folks  -

New artist window display project for the opening of a new Hermès store in Dubai (Mall of the Emirates).   Nature is surrounding us and never cease to evolve since its beggining. Its run defines the world we’re living in. Nature is linked to every living beings, and every living being is linked to it. 

In this project, spectators have a sneak pick of the curious characters living inside this environment. This microscopic point of view, where plants and other vegetal reign as masters, is like a kind of picture, a flash, a precise instant in nature’s unrestrained run. Life is everywhere, flowers are growing and carry away its inhabitants in their impetus. This mysterious people is evolving, building, and living right in the heart of the nature, revealing a fragment of their daily life.

-  Abyss  -

Installation for Odyssud in Blagnac (France) for a personal exhibition.

Only 25% of the deep seas have been explored. These unknown territories are a real playground for imagination. Sometimes terrifying, but always fascinating, these living beings remain mysteries for scientists. Once the lights are off, the fishes reveal a bit of their secrets, irradiating the room with bioluminescence. The installation is like a surreal encounter with the most inaccessible creatures on earth.

'Abyss' is an installation made out of paper and phosphorescent paint.

Zim & Zou 将纸、木头等材料发挥地淋漓尽致，制作出如此精美的模型。一方面是惊叹于还有工作室可以专注于如果费时的手工成果，另一方面是在考虑如何将这些近乎艺术品的立体纸雕用作商业用途。

在大众电子化、数码化的大潮流下，Zim & Zou 能够忽视大众趋势，抛开趋势，而专心做实体材料方面的探索，也十分值得让人学习。
