导师介绍

Luca Xu is an Italian born Chinese architect who moved to Italy in 1990.

After completed his architectural studies in Politecnico di Milano he worked for a year with Mario Bellini and after 24 years spent in Italy, in 2014, he decided to return alone in China in order to better understand his own origin.

He’s actually working for Stefano Boeri Architects, one of the most innovative firm around the world.
Before this, he also worked 4 years as architect for Arcplus PLC(华建集团), one of the biggest architecture company in China.

Since he was a child, he always believed in the importance of learning about different cultures.
He believes in cultural-mix.
He believes that architecture should gives emotions.

He believes in understanding the culture of the country you are living.

He believes that architecture is made by people for other people in order to give them shelter, sense of wonder, happiness and last but not the least, to give them a sense of cultural identity.

Studio 背景

Probably everyone of us asked ourselves at least one time in our life:

What is Architecture?

Architecture is not only building beautiful or ugly buildings, is not only about designing place for work or sleep.

Architecture is important in order to understand the history, the culture and the identity of a place.

Architecture is bringer of meanings that go beyond the simply definition of spaces for people.

Architecture should talk about people, about lives and about emotions.

People’s lives are deeply connected to architecture.

The main task of an architect is to create a living building or a living space. The kind of building or space that connects people to their own culture and history and give them a strong sense of cultural identity.

The cultural identity is another great theme because it gives continuity to a place or to a group of people that lives in the same place.

I believe in the importance of memory.

I believe in the importance of emotions.

I believe in the importance of architecture.

Studio 大纲

Studio 目的:

The studio will focus on relations.

Relations between architecture and emotions, between people and spaces, between culture and cities, between memory and architecture, between people and nature.

The objective is to be aware that architecture is a strong social item that allow us to change one place (in a good or in a bad way).
