报告人介绍

Professor Sam Fankhauser is Professor of Climate Change Economics and Policy at the University of Oxford, where he is affiliated with the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment and the School of Geography and the Environment. He is also Research Director of Oxford Net Zero and a Fellow of Reuben College. Outside academia, Professor Fankhauser is an Associate Director at economics consultancy Vivid Economics. He was an inaugural member of the UK Climate Change Committee and a Non-Executive Director of CDC Group, the UK’s development finance institution. Before moving to Oxford, Professor Fankhauser was Director of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics, where he remains a Visiting Professor. He has also worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank and the Global Environment Facility. Professor Fankhauser has studied economics at the University of Berne (Switzerland), the London School of Economics and University College London. 

报告摘要

Governments increasingly understand the urgency of action against climate change.  Over 120 countries have committed to net zero emissions – a balance between carbon emissions and their removal from the atmosphere – by the middle of the century. China aims to be carbon neutral by 2060.  This lecture will discuss why “net zero emissions” is important, what steps need to be taken to achieve it, and what the economic implications might be.

主持人介绍

Lin Zhang is currently a Professor of Law in the School of Law at Jilin University. He obtained his Ph.D degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong and he has also been a qualified Chinese lawyer. He served the School of Law of Korea University as a Chinese Law Professor for eight years. In the meanwhile, he was a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law for three months. His specialty is Chinese company law, in particular concerning corporate governance. Over the past ten years, he published two monographs and a number of peer-reviewed journal articles in English. He once acted as the editor for the “Asian Business Lawyer” and “Manchester Journal of International Economic Law” and the anonymous reviewer for dozens of high-caliber law journals. His ongoing book project focuses on corporate social responsibilities in the context of China, the publication contract of which was signed with Springer Nature.
