A short course offered by Prof Herbert Huppert FRS where he will showcase experiences on modelling challenging phenomena in environmental sciences using the principles of fluid mechanics. The course is intended for graduate students,early career researchers and interested academics.

The Navier Stokes equations and related simplifications (1/2 session);

Gravity currents -- flowing at either low or high Reynolds numbers (1 1/2 sessions);

Flows in porous media (1 session);

The weather, the development of our understanding leading to climate change (1 1/2 sessions);

Surface waves on the ocean surface, their interaction with coral layers and a new suggestion of how to defend against tsunamis (1 1/2 sessions);
