Introduction of the T-Factor project and the event
Prof. Francesca Valsecchi and her team from Tongji University will introduce the international collaboration project of T-Factor, the results achieved between Europe and China, and the current research activity ongoing in Shanghai in relationship to urban regeneration and the role of communities and citizens in the city making.
In this opening session we will celebrate the value of international collaboration in Science and Technology and offers the possibility to the European partners to showcase the project and to meet the China partners and delegates from the institutions.
10:00~10:30
Partners presentations
European partners will present the details of the T-Factor project, the status of projects of urban regeneration in Europe, and the meaning of international collaboration. In particular, the concept of T-Factor will be explained and discussed: how to use the temporary use of the regeneration spaces as a driver of dynamic urbanisation, experiment with social innovation projects, and the creation of values for the local communities.
In T-Factor the role of temporary uses is crucial: they become opportunity of experimenting and evaluating different forms of transformation of the city, which gives more possibility to citizens engagement and more stability to the investments of the public and private sectors.

Exhibition opening and tour
T-Factor Rodshow includes an exhibition of the project’s methodology and results, with materials and updates from the six pilot cities (Amsterdam, Milano, Kaunas, Lisbon, Bilbao, London). The exhibition will showcase examples and actions of the work in the different cities and present the contents of the Shanghai pilot projects, happening in Xinhua CDC, NICE2035 community, and MeetU Lab.
Each of the cities is working on different challenges and missions of urban regeneration, dealing with the topic of environment and ecology, entrepreneurship, circularity, heritage, social inclusion, cultures and creativity, and more. The mission of city and ecology is very important in the Shanghai pilots, and the second part of the exhibition will focus particularly to showcase projects that address urban green, relationship with urban ecology, and the theme of biodiversity in cities. Shanghai is working in synergy with the other T-Factor cities to experiment on how nature and environment can be included as a fundamental aspect of urban regeneration, and how the use of temporary spaces can inspire citizens to a stronger relationship with the eco-system.
