Description:

Open call for the Ph.D. position in the typological project «Towards grammatical iconicity of language: a crosslinguistic study of P demotion constructions.»

The project will be carried out for two years at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan by Dr. Katarzyna Janic (as Principal Investigator) and Prof. Krzysztof Stronski (as Co-Investigator).

Requirements and qualifications

The competition is open to individuals who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 574, i.e. Article 113 as amended) and who meet the following requirements:

1. M.A. in linguistics

2. Strong motivation to conduct research in linguistic typology

3. High proficiency in English

4. Excellent organizational skills

5. Excellent social skills and ability to work collaboratively with others

6. Ambition to pursue an academic career

Eligibility criteria

1. M.A. in the field of linguistics or computational linguistics: 1 point

4. Publication record (scientific or public-oriented articles published and/or under review):

5. Experience with writing a grant application and funding capture: 2 points

6. Experience in working in research projects: 3 points

7. Experience with presenting research findings at international conferences: 2 points

8. Experience in organizing the scientific event (e.g. conferences, workshops, meetings): 1 point

9. Experience with designing typological databases (e.g. Cross-Linguistic Data Formats): 3 points

10. Advanced expertise in methods of statistical analysis (e.g. linear regression, logistic regression, classification, clustering etc.): 3 points

11. Ability to use a programming language (e.g. R, Python): 3 points

12. Experience with online data collection: 1 point

13. Excellent social skills and ability to work collaboratively with others: 2 points
