Why do millions of young Chinese prefer to deliver food than...

At present, there is a "recruitment shortage" of general or universal workers in the manufacturing and service industries. A large number of young people "flee" from the traditional factories and assembly lines. On the other hand, there is a growing number of young people in the takeaway industry. The average age of those working in the industry are between 26 and 30, and nearly 70 percent of them are under 35.
Although traditional factories and assembly lines may work long and hard hours, it is not necessarily easier to deliver food through the rain and through the wind.
Compared with the weather and uncertain volume of delivery work, the working environment and stability of the factory are actually better.
But why has this generation of young people chosen to deliver food rather than go to the factory? What is the reason behind this change of preference and behavior?
Indeed, this generation of young people is different.
Growing up in the Internet age, they prioritize their well-being and they have more distinct personalities than just basic food and clothing and material satisfaction.
The mechanical work on the traditional factory assembly line restrained and repressed their spiritual needs and well being as well as their individuality.
In the food delivery industry, the working hours are freer and the intensity of labor can be controlled by the individual.
As long as you work hard enough, you will be paid handsomely.
In addition, a delivery person has access to more people and things than the workers who are fixed on the assembly line all day, which is also a crucial aspect for young people.
But there is a shortage of workers in factories.
As young people change, so should businesses and factories.
If factories are to truly win the favor of young people, they must change the status quo of low pay, high-intensity labor and low security. These changes can give their workers enough sense of accomplishment which can make them treat their current work more a career rather than a temporary means to make a living.
Compared with their hard-working parents, young people want to have more spare time and less amount of work while earning more money.
In many assembly line factories, work means endless work for the entire day. Each day is a monotonous repetition between the factory, canteen and dormitory.
Young people would rather deliver food than go to the factory, which is their personal career choice.
