The Corner in Life
Opening | 2021/5/22, 3pm
No.1003 Shennan Avenue, Futian, Shenzhen

Bubble Wap / Shrinkable Plastic, 43 x 59 cm
Composite Material, 4.5 x 4.5 cm for Each
It's a Panda Here, 2019彩铅、指甲油 Color Lead / Nail Polish, 19.5 x 26 cm

Great Art Space is honored to present the “The Corner in Life” in Hall NO.4. The exhibition features the works of five artists: Chayujun, Big Brother, Karmen Wong, Ou Yimeng, Yuan Linhong
The theme of the exhibition takes the image of "the corner" to symbolize the trivial moments or the ignored scenes in life. The artist through their works attempt to guide the audiences to reassess those moments from a different perspective.
Bubble Boy Zine, 2017
Paper, 6 x 8 cm
The Chinese character "Qu" refers to one of the essential techniques in the traditional garden design, by which numerous winding paths are set in the garden. The technique aims to engage the visitors in the present through spending more time walking deep down and enjoying the garden, which allows them to escape from the busy world for that moment. Those winding paths could also change the way of seeing. Imagine that the audiences will follow the guidelines of the paths once they enter the garden, seeing the view on the left when turning the left, and then the same as turning the right. Seeing much more through zigzagging.
Velvet Paper, 18.3 x 25 cm
The Bubble Boy created by Chayujun, a little boy who grows up in a piece of air bubble wrap, is meticulous and three-dimensional. She captures the subtleties of the moment before we could react to it. Thus, everyone in the scene is the protagonist of her works. Big Brother calls himself a screw, who complete the science transformation from Mechanical Energy to Art Energy in ISISIS interdisciplinary self-organizing factory. Karmen Wong’s works encompass various “self” in varying contexts, just as the search for the overlooked self in the collective unconscious. Painting for her is like a visual interpretation of literary language, intuitive and poetic.
Composite material, 30.5 x 30.5 cm
Ou Yimeng gains inspiration from observation and reflections on life and travel. Her works are heart-lightening and rich with a flow of temperature, where various colour and landscape elements are communicated through applying mixed media. Behind Yuan Linhong’s banter and emotional expression in her works, the audiences would be surprised by her unique manipulation of words, language and visual effect, and the hidden jaw-dropping truth.
Gouache / Watercolor Pen / Acrylic Marker, 19 x 19 cm
There is an old saying that thousands of people with thousand faces, which implies everyone has a unique life trajectory. It is wonderful if we could get a chance to run away occasionally and see the traces of others. The exhibition “The Corner in Life” invites you to find the moment that touched you in the other’s life trajectories.
原霖泓 Yuan Linhong, 我们仨 Three of Us, 2019软头黑笔 Pigma Brush, 10 x 14 cm
