答：修行中，做任何事情都要保持适度。希望他人和自己学佛修行，既不能太过分，也不能太迁就。你想度化你周围的人，必须有善巧方便。若要求太过分了，对方肯定受不了。所谓“恒顺众生”，就是要根据众生的根基，观察他的因缘、意乐在哪儿，然后采用适合他的一些方法来调伏他，让他一下子就能接受。否则，若你没有采用恰当的方法，直接就去做，肯定是不行的。 

Guru’s answer: In the Buddhism practice, we do everything in a moderate way. If you wish others to learn Buddhism and practice with you, you don’t force them or accommodate ourselves to them too much. It requires skillful methods to save people around you. If you push them too much, they definitely wouldn’t accept it. The so-called ‘accommodating to sentient beings’ has to consider people’s faculty. You have to observe their karmas as well as interests so that you could find appropriate methods to assimilate them and make them accept Buddhism. Without suitable methods, you cannot make this successful.   

有时需要硬的方法，有时需要软的方法，你会用各种各样的方法应机施教，这是智慧。无论是自度还是度他，智慧和方便都要具足。有智慧才有方便，有方便才不会有障碍。你有障碍了，说明你还是没有方便；没有方便，说明你还是智慧不够。 

Sometimes we have to be harsh but sometimes we have to be gentle. It is wise if you can accommodate yourself and use various methods. No matter you want to save yourself or others, wisdom and expedience are necessary. By having wisdom, you know how to accommodate. By having expedience, you don’t have obstacles. If you encounter obstacles, it means you don’t accommodate yourself well. If you don’t accommodate yourself well, you are not wise enough.

其实，一切都要恒顺众生，要随缘，但需要有智慧才能做得到。随缘不是随便。已经开悟、证悟的人才能真正做到随缘，有大智慧的人才能真正做到随缘。要放下，不要放弃，要认真，不要执着，要随缘，不要随便，这些也就是《心经》里所讲的“色即是空，空即是色”的道理。若没有智慧，是不会分辨的；若没有修行，也不可能保持适度。要把握这些很难，真是“差之毫厘，谬以千里”，差一点点就错了。

In fact, we have to constantly complying with beings and follow the karma. It requires wisdom to do this. Follow the karma does not mean arbitrariness. Only enlightened people can truly follow the karma, so are those who have great wisdom. We should let go of things but not give up everything. We should work hard but not attach too much. Also, we should follow the karma but not be arbitrary. These are the concepts in the Heart Sutra about‘Form is not other than emptiness; emptiness is not other than form .’ By having no wisdom, you cannot distinguish this. By not performing practice, you cannot maintain moderate. It is difficult to manage all of these. A small discrepancy can lead to a great error.
