According to Jiupai News, the Changle Court in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, approved a divorce settlement in a case that attracted peculiar attention from netizens earlier this month. That's because the husband claimed that their baby had foreign features such as dark skin and curly hair.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
The husband named Ding met his now ex-wife, Ms. Chen, in 2016 on a blind date. The two registered for marriage that same year and went to work in South Africa.
Chen got pregnant and gave birth to their first child, a boy, in 2018. ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
She got pregnant again in 2022 and returned to China where she gave birth to a girl.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
Ding and his family noticed that the baby girl's skin was turning darker and darker as she grew up, and her hair started curling, features that their first child and most Chinese children do not exhibit. ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
No sooner, Ding also found that Chen was infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), fortunately for him, he tested negative.
Nevertheless, their lives changed since then and they fought constantly.‍
Seeing that their marriage is already broken beyond repair, Ding sued for a divorce at the Changle Court and asked compensation for emotional distress.
After a judicial appraisal, it was confirmed that Chen is indeed the biological mother of the baby girl but Ding was not the child's biological father, albeit, the two were the biological parents of their first child.
Chen also admitted that she committed adultery with a black person while in South Africa and only found that she had contracted HIV during a prenatal examination.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
Through mediation, both parties agreed to a divorce with Ding taking custody of their son, and Chen agreeing to raise her daughter alone.
Ding eventually gave up his claim of compensation for emotional distress on account of Chen's current physical and economic conditions.
