A video blogger from Nanjing said she felt very safe in Serbia when she saw and talked with police officers from China who were patrolling alongside their Serbian counterparts in Belgrade city at the Belgrade Fortress.
The Chinese police are on their second month-long joint patrol mission with Serbian police officers in the country's 3 cities that are popular with Chinese tourists.
The mission, launched in late September in Belgrade, was attended by Zeljko Brkic, state secretary of Serbia's Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Zhang Zhe, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Serbia.
Nine Chinese police officers accompany 20 Serbian police officers in Belgrade, Novisad, and Smederevo, cities that are frequently visited by Chinese tourists.
The joint police patrol missions are conducted at the invitation of the Serbian government and are based on a memorandum reached in 2019, in which six Chinese police officers joined their Serbian counterparts in the three cities in that year.
It aims to assist Chinese citizens and overseas Chinese people in communicating with the Serbian police, coordinate efforts to respond to security issues, and safeguard a secure and harmonious environment for tourism.
