The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said on Sunday it has notified app stores to remove Chinese ride-hailing platform Didi Chuxing due to "serious" violations of laws and regulations regarding the collection and use of personal information.

因打车平台“滴滴出行”App存在严重违法违规收集使用个人信息问题，7月4日，中国国家互联网信息办公室（以下简称“国家网信办”）通知应用商店下架“滴滴出行”App。

The CAC asked the Beijing-based company to strictly follow legal requirements and seriously rectify existing problems to effectively protect the users' information in a notice.

国家网信办要求北京滴滴出行公司严格按照法律要求，认真整改存在的问题，切实保障广大用户个人信息安全。

The Chinese internet watchdog initiated a cybersecurity review into Didi on Friday and blocked new user registration.

7月2日，中国网络监管部门对滴滴发起网络安全调查，停止“滴滴出行”App新用户注册。

The number of giant pandas in the wild in China has reached more than 1,800 and their status has been downgraded from "Endangered" to "Vulnerable," the Chinese government said on Wednesday. 

中国政府7月7日表示，中国大熊猫野外种群数量达到1800多只，受威胁程度等级由“濒危”降为“易危”。

Previously listed as Endangered, the Giant Panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is now listed as Vulnerable, as its population has grown due to effective forest protection and reforestation. 

由于有效的森林保护措施和再造林，大熊猫的数量有所增长。为此，之前被列为“濒危”的大熊猫已被列入“易危”范围。

The improved status confirms that the Chinese government's efforts to conserve this species are effective.

Apart from wild giant pandas, the living conditions of rare and endangered species such as Tibetan antelope and Père David's deer, also known as the milu, have been improved, Chinese environment authority said at a press conference on Wednesday.

A United Nations agency dealing with trade and development issues decided Friday to categorize South Korea as a developed economy. The decision was made unanimously during the 68th board meeting of the U.N. Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) held at the agency's headquarters in Geneva.

7月2日，在联合国贸易和发展会议于日内瓦总部举行的第68次理事会会议上，成员国一致匿名同意将韩国定为发达国家。

This is the first time that the agency has upgraded a member nation from the developing economy group to the developed one since its establishment in 1964.

UNCTAD classifies member countries into four groups based on U.N. Regional Groups, and South Korea used to be on List A consisting of Asian and African countries, but the change has moved South Korea to List B ― the Western European and Others Group.

Americans across the country had big July Fourth celebrations this year. But amid all the revelry there was also a lot of tragedy as at least 150 people were killed by gun violence across the country throughout the weekend, reports CNN, citing data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive. From Friday through Sunday there were more than 400 shootings across the United States, according to the data that is still being updated.
