No survivors have been found so far after a passenger plane with 132 people aboard crashed in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, an aviation official said late Tuesday.

民航局航空安全办公室22日晚间消息，一架载有132人的客机在广西上空失联并坠毁，截至目前未发现幸存人员。

The China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 aircraft, which departed from Kunming and was bound for Guangzhou, maintained an altitude of 8,900 meters as it entered the Guangzhou air traffic control area at 2:17 p.m. Monday, but was found to have drastically plunged at 2:20 p.m., Zhu Tao, head of the aviation safety office of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), told a press briefing.

Air traffic controllers made repeated calls to the crew, but received no response. The plane lost its radar signal at 2:23 p.m. and was later found to have crashed in Tengxian County in the city of Wuzhou, according to Zhu.

管制员随即多次呼叫机组，但未收到任何回复。14时23分飞机雷达信号消失。后经核实，飞机在广西梧州市藤县境内坠毁。

"Based on known information, the authorities do not yet have a clear clue as to the cause of the passenger plane crash," said Zhu. "The investigation is very difficult as the aircraft was severely damaged."

“以目前掌握的信息，还无法对事故的原因有一个清晰的判断。”朱涛表示，“本次事故飞机损毁严重，调查难度很大”。

The second live class from China's space station was held on Wednesday afternoon, delivered by Shenzhou-13 crew members Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu to students on Earth.

23日下午，中国空间站“天宫课堂”的第二场直播课开课，由神舟十三号航天员乘组翟志刚、王亚平和叶光富向地面课堂的学生授课。

The class began at 3:40 p.m. (Beijing Time) and was attended by students from three classrooms across China. The main classroom was located in the China Science and Technology Museum, while others were respectively set up in Lhasa in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region and Urumqi in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Team China was identified as the third place finisher of the men's 4x100m relay at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, according to the official website of IAAF on Monday. The website of the governing body of the world's athletics added Olympic bronze winner to the honors summaries of China's Su Bingtian, Xie Zhenye, Wu Zhiqiang and Tang Xingqiang, who finished fourth at the final race with 37.79 seconds in Tokyo in August 2021. Italy, Great Britain and Canada were the top three.

A 6.6-magnitude earthquake jolted waters off Taitung County in Taiwan at 1:41 a.m. Wednesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

中国地震台网正式测定：3月23日1时41分在台湾台东县海域发生6.6级地震。

The epicenter, with a depth of 20 km, was monitored at 23.45 degrees north latitude and 121.55 degrees east longitude, said the CENC.

测定结果显示，震中位于北纬23.45度、东经121.55度，震源深度20千米。

According to the meteorological agency of Taiwan, tremors were felt across the island as a series of earthquakes rattled eastern Taiwan on Wednesday morning.

To date, one person in Taitung County was slightly injured, power outages were recorded in several quake-struck areas, and a bridge in Hualien County collapsed, according to local fire authorities in Taiwan.
