China unveiled its "No. 1 central document" for 2023 on Feb 13, outlining nine tasks for comprehensively promoting rural vitalization this year. The document noted that the most arduous and heavy task of building a modern socialist country in all respects still lies in the countryside.

2月13日，我国发布2023年中央一号文件，提出九方面重点工作全面推进乡村振兴。文件指出，全面建设社会主义现代化国家，最艰巨最繁重的任务仍然在农村。

The document called for enhanced efforts to stabilize production and ensure the supply of grain and important agricultural products, to boost the construction of agricultural infrastructure, to strengthen support for agricultural science, technology and equipment, to consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty alleviation, and to promote the high-quality development of rural industries.

文件指出，要抓紧抓好粮食和重要农产品稳产保供、加强农业基础设施建设、强化农业科技和装备支撑、巩固拓展脱贫攻坚成果、推动乡村产业高质量发展。

Wu Yibing became the first Chinese mainland player to lift an ATP Tour trophy after winning the Dallas Open title on Sunday.

U.S. experts have expressed grave concerns over the damage by fires and chemical contamination to people and the environment following a disastrous train derailment in the U.S. state of Ohio.

On Feb. 3, a train carrying vinyl chloride, a dangerous colorless gas, derailed in East Palestine of Ohio, near the border with Pennsylvania. About 50 cars crushed onto each other. Many of them contained hazardous chemicals including butyl acrylate and vinyl chloride, which were among the combustible liquids that authorities feared could set off a major explosion.

At least four people have died, including a child and a firefighter, in New Zealand as the island nation continues to deal with destructive impacts from Cyclone Gabrielle.
