春节档票房达67亿元

China's movie box office tops 6.7 bln yuan during Spring Festival holiday

China's movie box office revenue reached nearly 6.76 billion yuan (about 998.5 million U.S. dollars) during the 2023 Spring Festival holiday, making for the second-highest gross figures for the holiday to date, according to the China Film Administration on Saturday.

1月31日，据国家电影局统计，2023年春节档电影票房为67.58亿元，创下历史第二高的票房成绩。

The top earners include the twist-filled hit "Full River Red" and the sci-fi blockbuster "The Wandering Earth II," which raked in about 2.61 billion yuan and over 2.16 billion yuan, respectively, the administration said in a press release.

据国家电影局发布新闻，今年春节档票房最高的影片为情节曲折的剧情大片《满江红》，票房累计约26.1亿元，以及科幻大片《流浪地球2》，票房累计逾21.6亿元。

Covering diverse genres, this year's holiday films were professionally made and fully met the particular demands of the audience.

Renowned litterateur and translator Yang Yi died at 8:30 pm on Friday at the age of 103, Yilin Publishing House announced via Weibo.

据译林出版社微博发布消息，著名文学家、翻译家杨苡先生于1月27日晚8时30分去世，享年103岁。

Yang was born in Tianjin in 1919 and went to the China-West Girls' School. She watched foreign movies with her classmates and practiced English as a daily hobby. This laid a solid foundation for her mastery of the Chinese and English languages.

杨苡1919年生于天津，后就读于天津中西女校。她与同学一起看外国电影，将练习英文当作平时的乐趣，打下了坚实的中英文基础。

Huxiaoshanzhuang, the Chinese name of Wuthering Heights, was her first notable translation.

《呼啸山庄》是杨苡的第一部知名译作。

She also wrote many original works which were translated into multiple languages and published overseas. Her efforts greatly influenced the development of Chinese contemporary literature.

杨苡也有许多原创作品被译成多种外语，在海外出版。她对中国当代文学的发展产生了重大影响。

警方通报胡鑫宇系自杀身亡

Hu Xinyu, a 15-year-old boy who went missing from a high school in Yanshan county, Jiangxi province, in October committed suicide, leaving thoughts of ending his life on a digital voice recorder before doing so, local police said on Thursday. 

2月2日，江西警方通报了胡鑫宇事件调查情况。警方称，2022年10月从一所高中失踪的江西省铅山县15岁学生胡鑫宇系自杀身亡，生前曾用录音笔录下轻生意愿。

Hu Mansong, deputy director of Jiangxi Public Security Bureau, said Hu Xinyu hanged himself with shoelaces from a tree in the woods around a grain depot near the school. There were no signs of struggle at the scene, and the possibility of homicide was ruled out after the autopsy results were released.

江西省公安厅副厅长胡满松表示，胡鑫宇是在学校附近一处粮库院内的树林中用鞋带自缢身亡。中心现场没有挣扎痕迹。警方根据尸检结果排除了他杀可能性。

Hu Xinyu, who attended Zhiyuan Senior High School, was reported missing on Oct 14. According to video footage provided by the school, he was last seen at 5:48 pm in the school's dormitories. His highly decomposed body was discovered by a grain depot employee on Saturday, more than 100 days after he disappeared. 

胡鑫宇生前就读于铅山县致远中学。去年10月14日，胡鑫宇失踪。校方监控最后一次拍到胡是在当日下午5时48分，胡在宿舍停留。今年1月28日，有粮库职工发现了胡鑫宇高度腐败的遗体，距其失踪已有100余日。

In the digital voice recorder found near his body, Hu made two recordings — one at 5:40 pm and the other at 11:08 pm — on Oct 14. It appears that he made both recordings while attempting to take his life, Hu Mansong said in a news conference.

胡满松在发布会上通报，在胡鑫宇遗体附近发现的一支录音笔中存有两段胡生前的录音，分别于2022年10月14日17时40分和23时08分录制，两段音频清晰表达了自杀意愿。
