1. 美国华盛顿州出现首个死亡病例，死者为50多岁的男性。
2. 对伊朗实施旅行限制，禁止过去14天内出入伊朗的外国人入境。将韩国和意大利的旅行警告调至最高级别，显示为“不要前往旅行”，并考虑关闭美国南部边境。
3. 新冠病毒对美国公众的风险仍然很低，美国公众仍可正常生活。
4. 普通民众无需买口罩。美国目前有4300万口罩，正与医疗物资厂商沟通保证供应。
5. 中国在疫情防控方面取得了很大进展。
美国疾控中心（CDC）主任雷德菲尔德介绍， 2月28日晚，华盛顿州金县EvergreenHealth Medical Center出现首例死于新型冠状肺炎的病例，死者为50多岁男性，患有基础性疾病，没有证据表明他是通过旅行感染新冠肺炎，雷德菲尔怀疑这种疾病在美国国内经由“社区传播”。
华盛顿州卫生官员还宣布了两起同一个护理中心相关的确诊病例。一位是40多岁的女性工作人员目前在医院治疗，情况良好；另一位是70多岁的女性居民目前也在医院接受治疗，但情况严重。两人近期均无境外旅行记录。
据NBC报道，该中心27名患者和25名工作人员出现了新冠肺炎的症状。
Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said, the person who died from COVID-19 was a man in his 50s at the Evergreen Medical Centre in Kirkland. He had no history of international travel or exposure to a known source of infection. He was believed to have been a victim of "community spread". The health officials reported two cases of COVID-19 virus connected to a long-term care facility in the Life Care Center of Kirkland. One is a Life Care worker, a woman in her 40s who is in satisfactory condition at a hospital, and the other is a woman in her 70s and a resident at Life Care who has been hospitalized and is in serious condition. Neither of them had recent international travel records. During the press conference, Pence said that Americans do not need to buy face masks to fight the COVID-19 outbreak. The U.S. currently has 43 million face masks and is working with medical manufacturers to secure the supplies.

When answered a question from CCTV reporter in regards to China's efforts on fighting the coronavirus, Trump hailed the measures China has taken and said China is making lots of progress. He also suggested that the virus had strengthened relations between the two countries who are still in talks to fix a phase two trade deal.
