森林卫士 | Two generations of forest guardians

贺敏，云南傈僳族姑娘，她的家乡在中国云南省云龙县。6岁的时候，她便立志要当一名森林警察，保卫家乡的自然环境。2017年，23岁的她真的做到了，成为了云龙县森林公安局的一名民警。在守护国家自然资源的这个工作岗位上，她毫无畏惧，因为对她而言，这里的青山绿水，是她的父亲用生命换来的。

He Min is a Chinese girl from the Lisu minority in Yunlong County, Yunnan Province. When she was 6 years old, she dreamt of becoming a forest ranger to keep her hometown's natural resources safe. In 2017, 23-year-old He Min's dream came true. She is proud to do such a job, as her father gave his life protecting natural resources.

云龙县位于云南省西部，这里不仅是国家一级保护动物滇金丝猴最南端的家园，还生长着国家一级保护植物红豆杉。丰富的野生动植物资源，自然吸引来了盗猎盗伐者。贺敏的父亲，贺明汉，当年就是云龙县森林公安局天池自然保护区派出所民警。他的职责，就是守护好这里野生动植物资源。为了更好地工作，他们一家都住在天池自然保护区里。

Yunlong County, located in the west of Yunnan Province, is the southernmost habitat for China's first-class protected animal, the Yunnan snub-nosed monkey. It is also home to China's first-class protected plant, Taxus Chinensis. The abundance of wildlife and wild plants attracts poachers. He Minghan, He Min's father, was a forest ranger in Yunlong Tianchi Natural Reserve, where all his family lived. 

贺敏，烈士贺明汉女儿，云龙县森林公安局民警。He Min, the daughter of He Minghan, is now a forest ranger.

父亲喜欢大自然，喜欢带着贺敏在林子里行走。那个时候，贺敏走在前面，父亲就走在她后面，小时候的贺敏觉得父亲很高大，很有安全感。他们会穿过大片的树林，一路上会遇到很多小动物，为了不破坏林子他们会绕远路。调皮的贺敏采了枝桠还会被父亲批评教育，说树木都是有生命的，不可以随便采。父亲还给了她一只小白狗，每天，贺敏都会抱着小白狗坐在台阶上等去执行任务的爸爸回来。直到有一天，她再也没等到爸爸。

He Minghan loved nature. He liked to walk in the forest with his daughter. She usually went first, and her father followed behind. He Min was very young then, and her tall father made her feel safe. They often saw wild animals as they passed through the forest. In order not to destroy vegetation, they would take a long way round. Sometimes, He Min naughtily plucked at plants, but her father would tell her to stop as all leaves are lives. He Minghan gave his daughter a white dog to keep her company. Every day, He Min and her dog sat on the steps to wait for her father to come home. But one day, he never came back.

云龙县位于云南省西部。Yunlong County, located in the west of Yunnan Province.

那是1998年10月的一个夜晚，正在处理一起偷砍盗伐林木案件的贺明汉，在与犯罪分子的搏斗中，救下一名同事，而自己，却被歹徒刺中颈动脉，当场牺牲，年仅34岁。

It's an October night in 1998. He Minghan was dealing with a poaching case, when the suspect attacked his colleague. He fought with the aggressor and saved his fellow ranger, but unfortunately, the 34-year-old was killed in the struggle.

那一年，贺明汉的爱人刘丽萍27岁，贺敏，才4岁。

He's wife, Liu Liping, was 27 years old and his daughter, He Min, was only 4.

为了不让贺敏伤心，刘丽萍一直不敢把贺明汉去世这件事告诉女儿。直到贺敏6岁，才从奶奶口中得知父亲已经光荣牺牲了。得知这个消息的贺敏很伤心，但很快她化悲愤为力量，下定决心，要和爸爸一样当一名森林警察，爸爸未走完的路她来完成。

Liu Liping was afraid to tell her daughter the truth. It wasn't until He Min was 6 years old that her grandmother told her that her father had passed away. Even though she felt sad, she was determined to follow in her father's footsteps and protect her hometown.

从那以后，她开始勤奋学习。在2013年，考入南京森林警察学院。2017年，考入云龙县森林公安局，和她父亲在同一个单位同一个岗位上，捍卫国家自然资源。

She studied very hard. In 2003, she was admitted to Nanjing Forest Police College. In 2017, she became a forest ranger with Yunlong Forest Public Security Bureau, the same position and the same unit as her father.

每当贺敏到森林里执行任务时，风吹得云南松沙沙作响，闭上眼睛，她感觉父亲就在自己的身后，还是那样高大，还是那样和蔼可亲。她仿佛听到了父亲的声音，他说，女儿，好样的，守住这片森林，守住我们的家。

As He Min works in the forest, she sometimes hears the Pinus Yunnanensis leaves rustling while the wind is blowing. She closes her eyes, and feels that her father is with her. He is still very tall, he is still very kind. She feels that her father is saying to her, you are a good daughter, keep the forest safe, keep our homeland safe.

贺敏说，“守护好云龙县的青山绿水，我和我爸爸的工作就值得了”。He Min said, "so long as the green mountains and rivers of Yunlong are well, the work my father and I do will be worth it."
