Sacre Bleu! First Look at the New Café des Stagiaires

ShanghaiWOWeng 2017-05-07

Some fantastic news you might enjoy on this wonderful, smoggy Wednesday- the brand new Café des Stagiaires at Found 158 is completed and set to open on April 14th. We stopped by this morning to check it out, here’s what you can expect…

WHAT IS NEW

Cleaner, classier and bigger than ever, this latest addition to the Café des Stagiaires mini-empire is the best yet. The brand is 6 years old now and getting a bit more mature, while maintaining all of their vintage, bohemian charm. Their new spot fits right in at Found 158, it’s a little retro, a little chic and of course, has more than a few dashes of Parisian style.

As always, the interior is hip and fascinating. Most of the furniture looks right out of either a 1920’s French school or your grandmother’s living room (and we mean that in a good way). The huge open space is accented with art deco tables and counters made from retro luggage.

One new feature that we’re quite excited about: their new venue will feature work by local artists and galleries. Every three months they’ll be exhibiting a new series of work, and if you like it, guess what- you can buy it!  which means there may be a new phenomenon of drunk artwork purchases down at Datong Mill.  The first cooperation with Magda Danysz who owns galleries in Paris, Shanghai and London.

 FOOD & BEVERAGE

Soon they will set up a terrace! With sofa, couch, plants… we’re told going for the look of a flea market in a Montmartre neighborhood. Relaxing with vintage flair… plus this French je-ne-sais-quoi.  Perfect spot for l’Apero!

The drinks remain the same in terms of selection and prices. Hence the chouffe is RMB 40. Cocktails range from RMB50. RMB30 for shot, RMB150 for 6 shots, and Ricard is still  at RMB10 in Happy Hour. And yes, don’t worry, they’ll still be doing happy hour from 5-7pm for week day.

Food menu is not fully set up yet. For now they’ve got mainly cheese platter, cold cuts, pate and other French snacks. In a few weeks they’ll start serving lunch, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on that.

 WHAT ARE THE DEALS

In addition to their new opening, Café des Stagiaires is also pretty busy with events happening everyday at their other branches. Such as…
