Boxing can give a new meaning to your life. We talked to Rita Qi, who starred as a contestant on the last Brawl on the Bund. Here are her top 10 reasons why boxing will help you in everyday life.
Goal 1. Face your fears
You see the the punch coming, you know how to handle it, then you dodge it. Boxing is mental training as much as physical. Face the fear and surpass it.
Goal 2. Brings spice to your life
Your daily life consists of eating, working ,sleeping, drinking... boring! You want to change it? To add some excitement? Hit the ring! You’ll learn a new skill, achieve another goal and teach somebody something meaningful that has multiple uses? Give a little flavor to your daily life.
Goal 3. Have a good balance
Time to go to work, what’s best for your body? Training or drinking and smoking? We all know the answer, or at least you will after spending 2 minutes in the ring.
Goal 4. Punch whatever annoys you
In your minds eye, you will K.O. your ex-lover, your boss, your manager, your landlord or anybody who gets under your skin. Visualize their head and that smug, obnoxious grin and then 1,2,3 POW! Boxing isn’t about fighting with rage and brute strength. It requires a logical thought process and a composed, strategic mindset. Every maneuver and every punch is calculated with the next 5 moves in mind, it’s like playing chess. Hence it teaches you how to stay focused and think clearly.
Goal 11. Keep quiet
Boxing is not a street fight. It teaches you how to be quiet and mindful in a very stressful environment. This is a lifeskill rarely thought but useful in any situation.
