The build-up to The Chivas Master 2018 starts early!

China! We are eight days away from finding out who is going to be crowned the next China champion of The Chivas Masters! It’s one of the most anticipated bartender battles known to the Chinese bar community, with some of the best known names in the scene already engraved upon that trophy as former winners. And now we’re almost ready to go again.

On May 22, nine bartenders will gather at The Andaz hotel in Shanghai, and have two days to show off their cocktail-making prowess, to impress the judges with their charm and technique, and to delight the gathered crowds with their hospitality and cocktails. First of all, congratulations again to those nine who made it through the regional heats to book their place in the national final – see below for a catch-up of who they are. One of them will soon be crowned the winner – and with that title, will earn themselves a place at the global final, to be held in London, where they will represent China.

The cocktail scene in China has developed so much since the first Chivas Masters was hosted in the country four years ago. In order to recruit the finest bartenders from all four corners of China, this was the first time Chivas added regional heats to The Chivas Masters – so all these bartenders have worked extra hard to get to this point. We salute you! But now really is the time to show us what kind of bartender you are… 

Since its debut in 2014, The Chivas Masters Cocktail Competition has grown to become one of the world’s most recognised bartending battles. For this final, our nine finalists will be tasked with creating three exceptional Chivas mixed drinks, across three different themes: one inspired by Japan (featuring Chivas Mizunara), one inspired by the United Kingdom (featuring Chivas 18), and one inspired by this year’s lead theme – Community (featuring Chivas 12).

But that’s not all. Because this year, we have also added one more new element to The Chivas Masters: The Chivas Lobby. 

Starting from May 18 all the way to May 23, the night after the final, the lobby at The Andaz will be transformed into a very special Chivas pop-up. The Chivas Lobby will feature some of the best bartenders in Shanghai, all of them previous Chivas Masters competitors. Here is the line-up:

The Chivas Lobby is the perfect place to enjoy The Chivas Masters experience: hospitality as charming as the whisky itself, with liquid creations from some of the best bartenders in the business. Even if you cannot make it to the final, this is the place to sample extraordinary talents, damn fine drinks, and a very stylish night out. 

The Chivas Lobby is open for all, but you need to RSVP for the competition and the after party on May 22.
