5G商用正式启动

听到这个消息，不少网友双眼放光：地铁上直播追剧，无延迟VR游戏，吃鸡再也不掉队……这些愿望统统要实现了。

工信部副部长陈肇雄宣布，中国启动5G正式商用。随后中国移动、中国联通、中国电信发布了5G套餐，资费128元起，个人套餐最高599元，11月1日起可以开始办理。

China's three major mobile operators on Thursday launched their long-awaited 5G service plans with users in dozens of cities making a beeline for the ultra-fast cellular network. China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, in simultaneous moves, unveiled their monthly 5G plans with prices ranging from 128 yuanto 599 yuan.

不少人看了价格之后，直呼贫穷限制了想象力。但与4G套餐相比，5G真的贵了吗？

北京邮电大学（Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications）教授吕廷杰表示：虽然5G套餐价格的办理门槛比4G套餐高很多，但在同等流量大小的情况下，5G套餐流量单价资费其实更便宜。

Lyu Tingjie, a telecom professor at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, said though the threshold of 5G data plans is far higher than that of 4G services, the per-gigabyte price of 5G is, in fact, lower than that of 4G.  

据中国信通院副院长王志勤介绍，目前5G套餐资费总体定位在中高端，主要是因为商用初期，网络覆盖集中在热点区域，面向网络宽带要求较高、需求较大的用户群体，提供技术更加先进、内容更加丰富的网络服务，成本相对较高。

王院长表示，我国5G套餐的资费水平其实低于国际主流运营商。比如韩国、美国、英国等国的运营商推出的5G套餐，最便宜的折合人民币200元/月，最贵的套餐约为750元/月。

国内三家运营商，这一次在流量定价的基础上，还按上网速度进行了不同的定价。比如中国联通199元及以下价格的5G套餐，上网速度限制在500Mbps，239元及以上5G套餐速度可达1Gbps。

For the first time, the three telecom operators chose to price the tariffs by speed rather than simply by the amount of data. For instance, China Unicom's data plan with peak speed of 500Mbps retails at 199 yuan, while the peak speed of 1Gbps will cost at least 239 yuan.

哪里可以使用5G？

目前5G网络建设（5G network rollout）仍然处于早期，不过工信部数据显示，三家运营商已在全国开通5G基站8.6万个，北京、上海、广州、杭州等城市实现5G网络连片覆盖，其中，北京和上海是目前5G信号覆盖最多的城市。按照规划，年底全国将开通5G基站超过13万个。

据新华网报道，目前全国已有50个城市开通了商用5G服务，包括北京、上海、广州和深圳等地。大家对5G的期待也很高，在正式商用前，三大运营商累积预约用户已超过1000万，用户希望可以使用新技术。

The 5G commercial services are now available in 50 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The expectation for the new communication technology has long been high. The three major mobile operators already registered over 10 million wannabe 5G users before the official commercialization launch.

预计明年将会是5G基站大规模建设期。明年年底前，全国所有地级以上城市也都将可以提供5G商用服务。

外媒怎么看？

商用5G是件大事儿，也引发了外媒的广泛关注，不少外媒的关注点都在“大”上。

《财富》网站文章认为，中国提前将5G网络推向大众，让中国在与美国的5G“较量”中获得了先机。

China is set to make 5G networks available to the masses earlier than expected, giving the country a significant upper hand in the ‘race’ against the U.S. for a 5G future.

中国不是第一个将5G技术带给消费者的国家，全球大约有40个国家以及美国的数十个城市，都推出了各种版本的5G技术。然而，中国国内市场5G技术的应用却要单独看待：和美国不同，中国应用的频谱，允许5G技术的大规模推广。

China is not the first country to release 5G technology to consumers. Over 40 countries around the world — and dozens of cities in the U.S. — already have some version of the mobile technology in use. Yet the introduction of 5G to China's domestic market stands apart because, unlike U.S. rollouts, its spectrum allows for the deployment of the technology on a massive scale.
