EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.
Italian restaurant Frasca at The Opposite House is introducing its first-ever semi-buffet brunch. Pick your fill from a seafood counter and a wide selection of Italian meats and cheeses to start, then choose a main course from a selection of seven Italian classics such as sausage and creamy polenta, spaghetti carbonara, or chicken alla cacciatora. Brunch is priced at RMB 398 per person and is available every Saturday and Sunday from 12-3pm; add on two hours of free-flow wines and Italian cocktails like Aperol Spritz for RMB 188.
Not content with producing Beijing's tastiest rotisserie chicken, the team at Larry the Bird also update the menu every month with new limited-edition specials. This month, tuck into a truly indulgent chicken parmesan sandwich (RMB 50), which puts a spin on the traditional chicken-marinara-mozzarella combo with the addition of spicy pepperoni, or slurp down a very sophisticated black truffle udon noodle soup (RMB 60) topped with shiitake and hon shimeji mushrooms, crispy fried leeks, and a poached egg.
Not that we really need an excuse to eat, drink, and be merry at this time of year, but if we did, we might just have found the perfect excuse in Susu's new party menu. Priced at RMB 228 per person (with the option to add three hours of free-flow wine for just RMB 188) the menu is a true feast of Susu favorites — think mango beef rolls, shaking beef, lemongrass grilled chicken leg, and more. The menu is perfect for groups of 10-25 and can be customized to meet the needs of friends with special dietary requirements. The menu is available at the OG Susu Courtyard, Susu Longfusi, Susu Phoenix Town, and Susu Grand Summit.
Want a casual taste of Christmas without all the fuss? Head over to any branch of Moka Bros to sample their limited-edition Christmas dishes, including a turkey sandwich with bread stuffing and cranberry sauce (RMB 65), Swedish meatballs with traditional lingonberry sauce (RMB 89), and a gingerbread latte with spiced syrup and whipped cream (RMB 42) that looks sure to fight off even the chilliest of winter days.
