【不离】法王如意宝：我们有些功德只是暂时的
“在整个世界上，我是最卑劣的人”
“I Am the Most Lowly Person in the Whole World”
当年我在石渠求学时，遇到了大善知识秋吉堪布、班泽堪布。
When I was a student in Sershul, I met the great spiritual masters Khenpo Chokgyur and Khenpo Peldzom.
对于秋吉堪布，我虽然不太了解，但自以为在智慧上远胜于他。
Although I did not know much about Khenpo Chokgyur, I fancied my wisdom superior to his.
可没想到，他的功德和境界非常不可思议，
I did not expect that his merit and virtue and his realization would really be inconceivable.
终其一生都在修持甚深法要，
Throughout his whole life, he maintained the practice of the most profound Dharma.
临圆寂前还在为弟子们传授佛法，
Even right before his death, he was still teaching the Buddhadharma to his disciples.
以闻思修行圆满了自己的一生。
Through study, reflection, and practicing the Dharma, he perfected his life.
至于班泽堪布，我曾在他面前听过五部大论等许多佛法。
As for Khenpo Peldzom, I once received his teachings on the five great Mahayana treatises and many other texts.
以前就听说他的智慧和人格非常好，
In the past I had heard that his wisdom and character were very good;
后来我以为他已经老了，可能糊涂了，
later I thought he had already aged and was perhaps befuddled.
但两年前和他相遇时，我发现他的智慧有增无减，身上却没有点滴傲慢，
But when we met two years ago, I discovered that his wisdom had only increased, yet there was not the slightest hint of pride in him.
人格仍十分贤善，做任何事都非常认真，
His character was still of utmost virtue, and he took great care in everything he did.
让我不得不暗自赞叹：“真正的修行人，就该像他那样！”
I could only admire him, thinking, “A true practitioner should be just like him!”
我以为自己年轻时的智慧超越他们，但时至晚年，他们却已把我远远甩在了后头。
I thought in my youth that my wisdom surpassed theirs, but in our old age, they have left me far behind.
这说明了什么？
What does this illustrate?
说明我们有些功德只是暂时的，没必要因此而沾沾自喜。
It shows that some of our merit and virtue are only temporary; there is no need to gloat over them.
