泉州南音是现存历史最悠久的传统古乐，

不需时光机，如今的我们也能享受古人听过的美妙音乐。

几千年前，中原的移民来到闽南地区，

带来了音乐文化，

孕育了这优美而又古老的音乐。

泉州南音起源于唐，形成于宋，

主要乐器有“上四管”和“下四管”两种组合，

“上四管”常用琵琶和三弦，

“下四管”常用中音唢呐和扁鼓，

原汁原味地保留了中原古韵，

至今仍然延续了唐代的演奏方式。

看，这叫“横抱琵琶”，

是不是和敦煌壁画中的飞天一样优雅？

南音的体系由“指”、“谱”、“曲”三大部分构成，

主题丰富，

有的歌唱四季景色、骏马奔驰，

有的演绎唐诗宋词，传奇故事。

曲调优美，委婉深情。

南音之美，也被定格在传奇书画中。

南唐顾闳中的《韩熙载夜宴图》里就有演奏南音的场景，

画中宾客聚精会神地倾听着演奏，

嘈嘈切切错杂弹，大珠小珠落玉盘，

千年后的我们似乎也能听见。

泉州南音是“中国音乐的活化石”，

名扬海外，在东南亚等地也极受欢迎。

歌声婉转、琴瑟和鸣，

穿越千年仍延音不止，余音绕梁。

Nanyin

As one of the oldest existing musical forms,

Nanyin is central to the culture of the people of Minnan in southern Fujian Province along China’s southeastern coast.

Thousands of years ago,

immigrants from Central China came here,

bringing with them their music culture, which later developed into Nanyin.

The complete set of distinctive musical instruments used in Nanyin has been established for over 1000 years, 

including plucked instruments such as Pipa and Sanxian, as well as midrange Suona and drums.

For instance, the Pipa is played horizontally,

just like the elegant Flying Apsaras painted in the Dunhuang Grottoes.

Nanyin comprises three forms: instrumental, instrumental with vocals,

and ballads accompanied by an ensemble.

Some of them capture the beauty of the natural world;

whereas others preserve ancient poems and folklore.

Nanyin performances were depicted in ancient Chinese paintings.

For instance, in this 1000-year-old painting which vividly represents an evening banquet hosted by the Southern Tang Minister Han Xizai,

the host and guests were listening to the Nanyin music.

Like “pearls tumbling onto a jade tray”,

the unique and delicate tonality of the Pipa has been appreciated by the Chinese people for thousands of years.

Spreading from its birthplace Quanzhou,

Nanyin has become well-received overseas, especially in Southeast Asia.

In 2009,

it was inscribed on the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
