能吃的艺术品，要不要来一个尝尝！

提到“面”，可不只有喷香松软的面包、蛋糕，

这个栩栩如生的小人，竟然也是用“面”做成的。

这就是中国已有一千三百多年历史的传统手工技艺“面人”，也叫“面塑”。

它把面粉从小小厨房搬到了艺术殿堂。

面人的制作一般先采用捏、搓、揉、掀等手法塑造大体形制， 

再用竹刀刻画细节，加以点缀，

巧手之下，面人活灵活现，栩栩如生。

面人的基本形制分“签举式”和“案置式”两种， 

“签举式”面人深受小朋友喜爱，

下方插有一根小木棍，可以拿在手里，好吃又好玩；

“案置式”多是精致考究的陈设艺术品，

制作时在原料中混入专用添加剂，

作防裂防霉处理，

使饱含心血的面塑艺术品能够风采长存。

“核桃面人”以径寸之室，为神话、人物、鸟兽，罔不因势象形，各具情态。

小小的核桃里，

展现了精巧的传统戏剧场景，

两半一合，就是唱念做打的戏曲世界。

热爱生活的中国人取面粉为材，

用勤劳的双手塑造出一个个美好的艺术形象，

欢欢喜喜举个面人回家，

是许多中国人难忘的童年记忆。

Dough Figurines

A piece of dough can not only produce savory bread and cakes, 

but also lifelike figurines like this one. 

Dough figurine making is a traditional Chinese handicraft with a history of over 1,300 years. 

The art form has taken flour from a kitchen and made it into an art palace.

Artisans first make a general shape by pinching, rubbing, kneading, and lifting, 

and then embellish it with a bamboo knife. 

A dough figurine is eventually brought to life by a pair of dexterous hands.

The finished work is either put on the end of a thin stick or set on a table. 

The former is very popular with children. 

They can hold the stick to enjoy it, 

while the latter are mostly exquisite pieces of artwork for display. 

To better preserve it, 

special additives are usually mixed into the raw materials to prevent it from cracking and growing moldy.

"Walnut dough figurines" shape legendary stories, human figures, birds and beasts according to the original appearance of walnuts, 

and each has its own look. 

Inside the little walnuts, 

traditional theatrical scenes are modeled delicately. 

When two halves of a walnut become one, 

it creates a Chinese operatic world.

Life-loving Chinese people have created great artistic images with their diligent hands using flour. 

Joyfully holding a dough figurine is an unforgettable childhood memory for many Chinese people.
