Position Title: Beijing - Trade Officer (Agriculture), LE-O1 (Anticipatory)

Closing Date:  August 28, 2022 (at midnight UTC+8/GMT+8)  

Starting Annual Gross Salary:  Approximately RMB 216,717 (before tax and employee social insurance contributions; employer social insurance contributions are paid on top of the gross salary; salary is non-negotiable)
Location: Beijing  


Summary of Duties:


The mandate of the Trade Commissioner Service is to promote Canada's economic interests in global markets by engaging in a range of activities including: contributing to export market development; conducting advocacy and foreign market access activities; understanding and analyzing trade policy issues; attracting foreign investment to Canada; developing a network of international business contact; identifying and communicating of business leads; fostering of strategic alliances; linking Canadian businesses to global value chains; supporting licensing and venture capital linkages; promoting joint-venture partnering and foreign equity investment; facilitating R&D collaboration and technology transfer; promoting corporate social responsibility; and facilitating of Canadian direct investment abroad.


The position is a working level position of the Trade Program. It participates in planning and delivery of the Trade Program at the mission. This includes supporting the planning and implementation of the Trade program and the associated development of operational goals, objectives and policies as well as solutions to program requirements. Contributes to the provision of advice on the planning, development and/or implementation of the Trade program. Provides advice, market intelligence on trade opportunities and reputable qualified contracts to implement their strategies successfully. Drafts policy and/or project related documents such as presentations, plans, briefing notes, notices, funding estimates, contracts, reports, and communication materials. Provides services to clients, and prepares and implements business development plans. Contributes to the research and analysis of trends and developments related Trade program. Establishes and maintains a network of contacts with local and foreign governments, partner and multilateral organizations and agencies to stay abreast of local developments, changes, policies and programs. Performs other duties as required.


Area of Selection: 


This position is open to external candidates residing in China and employees occupying an indeterminate or term position in China missions who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date.

Essential Qualifications:


Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
*Language will be assessed further during the process. 


Education:

Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.


Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college/university, OR an acceptable equivalent through the combination of education and work experience


Language:


Advanced level of English, both written and spoken;

Advanced level of Mandarin, both written and spoken.


Experience:


Minimum two (2) years’ of recent experience (in the past 5 years) in each of the following:

Experience in international commerce and/or business development

Experience managing client and stakeholder relationships and in providing business service support to customers/ clients

Experience in working and liaising with government departments and officials
