Job Description:
1.Educating students and parents about colleges, the college admissions process, trends, procedures, and testing; advising and supporting classes and families as they go through the process; and helping students and families aspire realistically and choose wisely;
2.Meeting with juniors and seniors, individually and in groups, to talk about process and individual university choices. The University Counsellor also advises 10th and 11th graders on curricular choices, as needed, and works with international students to understand US, UK, Australian, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese university admissions, especially aspects unique to them;
3.Meeting with all university admissions representatives who visit our campus and facilitating meetings between college representatives and our students;
4.The University Counsellor also serves as a liaison with University admissions offices throughout the year;
5.Compiling an annual Profile of the School, as well as information on grade distributions in junior and senior courses and courses offered at our school;
6.Working with PR to maintain records on seniors, including GPA's and transcripts;
7.The university Counsellor also completes all School Report and mid-year report forms requested by universities, including evaluations of students;
8.Updating an annual university Search Handbook, a resource available to junior and senior parents each year, an extensive assembly of information about the universities around the world;
9.Keeping track of admission decisions, statistics, and making a report to the Board;
10.Maintaining and disseminating information about standardized tests such as SAT, ACT and TOEFL, helping to administer AP and PSAT exams, serving as AP Coordinator, and working with the Registrar to arrange for or extended time on these tests, as warranted;
11.The University Counsellor has also handled various aspects of Graduation such as the graduation photo, certificates, and creating programs for Graduation and Academic Convocation.
Requirements:
1.Minimum two years’ in education management experience, qualified with at least a Bachelor’s degree;
2.Linguistic proficiency in English;
3.Multi-cultural approach or experiences;
4.Child focused, highly professional and competent in bilingual classroom teaching settings;
5.Intercultural communication and global competency;
6.IB counseling experience is strongly preferred.
