As the fondness of having a pet grows in the past decades in China, the population of stray animal is on a rapid rise. In 2010, the pet industry in China was valued at 20 billion yuan. Eight years later, the value of the pet market increased to 170 billion yuan. Lacking proper training and education, most Chinese pet owners are young and unfamiliar with the responsibilities of owning a dog, having been pushed into buying a dog by a largely unregulated dog breeding industry. Some pet owners are not keeping pets because they love pets, but because it’s trendy. They don’t keep them long before finding it too much work and abandoning the pets. Many pets end up as strays.
While the number of animal protection and advocacy groups have exploded in China in the last fifteen years, adoption advocacy remains underdeveloped. Green Solutions China is partnering up with some local dog rescuing organizations to hold a Stray Pet Awareness Event Series. The goals of the events are to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership and the benefits of adoption. At the first event, we teamed up to volunteer at a local shelter in Kunming. This month, we are excited to invite a team of certified pet training instructors to speak at our next film screening!

在中国的过去几十年中，随着人们对宠物的热爱，流浪宠物收容所的数量不断增加，流浪动物的数量也只增不减。2010年，中国宠物产业的产值达到200亿元人民币。八年后，宠物市场的产值增加到1700亿元。由于缺乏专业的培训和教育，且在中国大多数宠物的主人还很年轻，他们并不熟悉养狗的责任——很大程度上不受监管的养狗产业迫使他们购买宠物狗。很多宠物主人不是因为爱宠物而养它们，而只是因为这是一种时尚。短暂养育宠物最终因为不堪负担而放弃。很多宠物流落街头。
尽管中国在过去的15年里，动物保护和相关倡导团体的数量在激增，但收养宠物并未得到充分发展。绿案中国正在和当地一些流浪动物救助组织合作，一起举办“流浪动物认知系列公益活动”。
举办这些活动的目的是为了提高人们对宠物的责任意识，还有对领养益处的认知。在第一个活动中，我们组队去了昆明当地的一个宠物救助站做志愿服务。这个月，我们非常兴奋能够邀请到了云南治疗犬团队作为绿岸中国本月电影放映的特邀嘉宾。

Guest Speakers/特邀嘉宾
Sherry Cai, one of the founders of the Yunnan Therapy Dog Team, is a certified national pet training instructor from Yunnan who has been involved in the development of pet training in China since 2005. For sixteen years she has been mainly engaged in pet training and pet instructor training. In 2018 she introduced therapy dog training and started the first therapy dog training institution in Yunnan Province. Her training principle is "positive training, happy training" and believes that "all life deserves love and respect." Sherry believes that the most important way to truly improve animal welfare is to start with the education of pet owners.

云南治疗犬团队创始人之一蔡雪（Sherry）是一位来自云南的国家宠物驯导师技能培训老师，她2005年在北京就参与并见证了中国宠物训练的发展；十六年以来她一直主要从事宠物训练、国家宠物驯导师培训；2018年她开创了云南省首批治疗犬培训及治疗犬对外服务培训机构，她以“正向训练、快乐训练”为核心；她认为“一切生命都值得爱与尊重”，而想要真正改善动物福利、最重要的是需要从宠主对宠物的教育源头做起。
Bonny has studied and lived overseas for more than 10 years and has always been passionate about animal welfare and volunteering at animal shelters. After returning to China, she continued to pay attention to the situation and welfare of stray animals and adopted and rescued several stray dogs and cats herself. She understands the current situation of stray animals in China and hopes to solve the problem of human-pet conflict and welfare of stray animals in China more effectively and fundamentally.
After meeting Sherry by coincidence, they both agreed to support raising the awareness of scientific and responsible pet ownership by cultivating and correcting pet behavior, thus achieving the goal of reducing stray pets, enhancing the value of pet life, and building harmonious coexisting environments for both humans and pets.

Bonny曾在海外学习生活十多年，了解并热衷于救助站义工活动。回国后继续关注流浪动物现状与福利并收养和救助数只流浪猫狗，了解目前国内流浪动物的现状，希望能更有效更根本的解决国内流浪动物的福利和人宠冲突的问题。机缘巧合下与蔡雪相识，并一致希望助力于由培养和矫正宠物行为，提升科学负责的养宠意识，进而达到减少流浪宠物，提升宠物生命价值，人宠和谐共处的目标。

Therapy Dog Qibao
治疗犬七宝
We will also be joined at the film screening this month by the therapy dog Qibao .
Qibao is a 10-year-old poodle who is kind, friendly, likes to play with people, loves to be petted and pampered and learn new skills. She has been going to autism services and senior care facilities and schools to fulfill her therapy dog services since 2018.

七宝是个10岁的贵宾 。善良、友好，喜欢和人玩耍，喜欢被人抚摸、喜欢撒娇，喜欢训练学习；自2018年开始去自闭症服务机构及养老机构、学校进行治疗犬服务至今。
