Yunnan Mountain Cleanup
Monthly, Green Solutions organizes a Yunnan Mountain Cleanup activity. The mountain cleanup is a community-based event that helps raise awareness about the problem of littering. The Yunnan Mountain Cleanup gathers volunteers who are eager to hike around the mesmerizing province of Yunnan while cleaning up local trails along the way.
This month we will Team Up to Clean Up with our pups – bringing your four-legged friends is encouraged!
As the fondness of having a pet has grown in the past few decades in China, the population of stray animals is on a rapid rise. In 2010, the pet industry in China was valued at 20 billion yuan. Eight years later, the value of the pet market increased to 170 billion yuan. Lacking proper training and education, most Chinese pet owners are young and unfamiliar with the responsibilities of owning a dog, having been pushed into buying a dog by a largely unregulated dog breeding industry. Some pet owners are not keeping pets because they love pets, but because it’s trendy. They don’t keep them long before finding it is too much work and end up abandoning the pets. Many pets end up as strays or sadly euthanized.
While the number of animal protection and advocacy groups have exploded in China in the last fifteen years, adoption advocacy remains underdeveloped. Green Solutions China is partnering up with some local dog rescue organizations to hold a Stray Pet Awareness Event Series. The goal of the events is to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership and the benefits of adoption. The July Yunnan Mountain Cleanup will be the third event of the series. We invited a team of certified pet training instructors and their therapy dogs, feel free to bring your pet as well to join us!

云南山林清洁是绿案中国组织的一个以社区为基础的活动，旨在保护美丽的风景不受垃圾污染，并提高人们对勿随手扔垃圾的意识。我们志愿者每个月一次聚集在一起，在迷人的云南省内徒步旅行，沿途清理当地的小路。
我们在7月的云南山林清洁活动中，将与你的狗宝宝组队清林-鼓励参与者带上你们四条腿的朋友哦。
在中国的过去几十年中，随着人们对宠物的热爱，流浪动物的数量也不断增加。2010年，中国宠物产业的产值达到200亿元人民币。八年后，宠物市场的产值增加到1700亿元。由于缺乏专业的培训和教育，且在中国大多数宠物的主人还很年轻，他们并不熟悉养狗的责任——很大程度上不受监管的养狗产业迫使他们购买宠物狗。很多宠物主人不是因为爱宠物而养它们，而只是因为这是一种时尚。短暂养育宠物最终因为不堪负担而放弃。很多宠物流落街头或者被安乐死。
尽管中国在过去的15年里，动物保护和相关倡导团体的数量在激增，但收养宠物并未得到充分发展。绿案中国正在和当地一些流浪动物救助组织合作，一起举办“流浪动物认知系列公益活动”。举办这些活动的目的是为了提高人们对宠物的责任意识，还有对领养益处的认知。7月的云南山林清洁活动将是该系列活动的第三个。我们邀请了云南治疗犬团队和他们的治疗犬，欢迎你也带上你的宠物加入我们。

7月山林清洁活动详情
Join us on Sunday, July 11th for a mountain hike and trash clean-up (dogs welcome!) We will start from Xuning Temple (northwest of Kunming) and finish the hike at the same temple. We will enjoy the beautiful mountain landscape while helping to preserve its natural beauty and bringing together the animal-lover community.
We’ll meet up at the Xuning Temple parking lot at 11am and stop for a quick vegetarian buffet lunch (20 RMB per person). Please bring a pair of reusable chopsticks or a spoon for your lunch, as the temple only provides disposable chopsticks.

这个月11号的周日，加入我们吧！7月的云南山林清洁活动，我们将和狗宝宝组队清林！我们的行程从虚宁寺 (昆明西北面) 开始，然后结束于同一地点。一边享受美丽的山川河流，一边去维护这一份大自然的美丽同时凝聚动物爱护者群体。
我们在虚宁寺停车场集合，然后在寺内吃素食便餐(20元每位)。请大家带上一副筷子或者勺子，因为寺庙厨房只提供一次性包装的筷子。
After lunch, we will walk around the popular temple among the locals. Then we will ascend from the temple and follow a dirt road that leads to the peak and offers a stunning panoramic view of Kunming and Dian Lake in the distance.

午餐后，我们将在这个深受当地人喜爱的寺庙里走走。然后，我们将沿着一条土路前往山顶，登顶后可以看到昆明和远处滇池的迷人全景。

In total, we will hike for less than 10km. A lot of trash has been accumulated on the top of Changchong mountain which is a popular hang-out spot for city dwellers. In an unfortunate contrast to the breath-taking mountain view, trash can be found everywhere around the scenic area. As a group, we will walk around the top and remove enough trash to polish up the site.

我们徒步行程在10公里以内。长虫山山顶是城市居民游览的地点，大部分的垃圾都堆积在这里。景区周围随处可见的垃圾与令人叹为观止的山景形成鲜明对比。作为一个团体，我们将在山顶走一圈，并尽力清除足够的垃圾给这个地方带来崭新的面貌。
Please Note!
If it rains on Sunday, the 11th, the event will be postposed for a week. Please note, pets are not allowed inside the temple.
-MEETING PLACE/TIME-
We will meet at the Xuning Temple parking lot at 11am.
-LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY-
The activity does require a certain level of physical fitness. The hike lasts for about 5-6 hours and some parts of the trails are relatively steep. We don't recommend children under 10 to attend unless they're natural hikers.
-WHAT TO BRING-
We will be providing some reusable(limited amount) XL trash bags, tongs and gloves but we still recommend you to BRING YOUR OWN. Also, please make sure to bring a mask with you. The event is free of charge but you'll be covering your own personal expenses (lunch, fruit, transportation etc) and insurance cost. Please send your passport info one day before the trip so we may purchase outdoor insurance. We recommend you to bring some snacks using your own container. Also, please bring a reusable water bottle to keep you hydrated for the climb.
Please bring a rain jacket(we don't recommend to bring an umbrella for the hike) and wear waterproof hiking shoes, since parts of the hike might be muddy and slippery during the rain season.
Please bring a pair of reusable chopsticks or a spoon for your lunch, the temple only provides disposable chopsticks.
Please bring a leash for your pet.
-WHAT NOT TO BRING-
We promote sustainability and strive to be as plastic-free as possible. Please do not bring any single-use plastics (take away cups, straws, plastic bags, single-use food containers, etc).

如果11号（星期日）下雨，活动将推迟一周举行。请注意，寺庙是不准带宠物入内的。
-集合地点/时间-
我们将会于上午11点在虚宁寺大门口停车场集合。
-难度-
本次活动需要一定的身体素质。这次的活动将持续5-6个小时，而且部分道路很陡峭。我们不建议10岁以下的儿童参加，除非是有很强的徒步能力。
-你需为此活动准备的/需要携带的-
我们将提供一些可重复使用（数量有限）的大号垃圾袋，钳子和手套，但我们仍然建议你自备。另外，请确保带上口罩。活动本身是免费的，但你需要自行承担保险和个人开支（午餐，水果，交通等）。我们将统一购买保险，请提前一天把你的身份证信息提供给我们。我们建议你用自己的容器带一点小零食。请保持环保精神，让我们使用可重复利用水杯来保证活动途中水的补给。
请携带防雨夹克（我们不建议带雨伞参加徒步），并穿上防水登山鞋，因为在雨季，徒步的部分路段可能是泥泞和湿滑的。
请大家带上一副筷子或者勺子，因为寺庙厨房只提供一次性包装的筷子。
请为你的宠物带一条绳子。

我们提倡可持续发展，并努力做到尽可能的无塑料。请不要携带任何一次性塑料制品（外卖杯、吸管、塑料袋、一次性食品容器等）。

Teaming Up to Clean Up!
Litter is forever a problem amongst our streets, parks and scenic spots, which ultimately takes away the beauty and dampens the atmosphere for visitors.
Awareness is a fundamental resource we can use to help people understand the impacts of their actions on the environment, however leading by example is a key element for change.
The Yunnan Mountain Cleanup project is the first of many! It happens on the first or second weekend of every month. The project aims to gather volunteers who are eager to hike around the mesmerizing province of Yunnan, cleaning up local trails along the way.

在我们的街道、公园和风景区里，垃圾永远是一个问题，它最终会带走美景，并使游客的心情变得低落。
