One more case confirmed in city as 25-year-old patient dies
One more patient was confirmed infected with novel coronavirus on Saturday morning in the city, Shanghai Health Commission announced, adding that 23 more suspected cases were ruled out and 16 more patients were discharged from hospital.
Zheng Jin, spokeswoman of the commission, said the newly diagnosed patient was a resident of Wuhan, Hubei Province, who had arrived in Shanghai on January 28. The female patient had lived with a relative who was also diagnosed. She had previously been quarantined.
The commission said a 25-year-old confirmed patient, with obesity and infection of influenza B, had died of the novel coronavirus, raising the citywide fatality toll to three. The man was confirmed as a critical case of coronavirus on January 29. He died on Friday night of multiple organ failures despite all-out medical efforts, the commission said.
As of noon on Saturday, Shanghai has reported 335 infections and ruled out 2,088 suspected cases.
