One new coronavirus case reported in the city




One new coronavirus case was reported in Shanghai during the past 12 hours as of midday Tuesday, said the Shanghai Health Commission. Meanwhile, another 13 suspected cases have been ruled out, said the commission.


The newly diagnosed case is a Shanghai resident who lives in Qingpu District. The man went to Henan Province with his family to visit relatives on January 20 and returned to Shanghai on February 9. He developed a fever on February 22 and went to the hospital the following day.


So far, the city has reported 336 infections and ruled out 2,231 suspected cases.


Among all confirmed patients, aged between 7 months and 88 years old, 144 have traveled or lived in Hubei Province, 34 have traveled or lived in other regions, and 158 had contact history with infected persons.

First critical patient in Shanghai discharged




Another seven coronavirus patients were discharged upon recovery on Tuesday, including one patient who was in critical condition, said the Shanghai Health Commission.


This is the first recovered critical patient to be released in the city, the commission said.

Recovery rate of virus patients in Shanghai reaches 80%



The recovery rate of patients in Shanghai infected with the novel coronavirus has reached 80 percent as of Feb 25, according to the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission.


Seven confirmed cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia were evaluated by an expert group and later discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, including one person who was in critical condition and had to be treated in the hospital for 32 days.

New COVID-19 cases drop to 9 outside Hubei



China's daily new confirmed cases of COVID-19 outside Hubei Province, epicenter of the outbreak, dropped to nine on Monday, according to the National Health Commission.


The commission said Tuesday it received reports of 508 new confirmed cases on Monday from 31 provincial-level regions on the mainland, including 499 from Hubei.


On Sunday, 11 new confirmed cases were reported outside Hubei. The Saturday figure stood at 18.

853 COVID-19 cases confirmed in Japan, Abe vows to contain regional infections



A total of 853 novel coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Japan, as of 5 p.m. local time on Tuesday.  


There were 14 infected people among those evacuated from central China's Hubei Province on chartered flights by the Japanese government. Among the passengers and crewmembers of the cruise ship Diamond Princess, 691 cases have been confirmed.


On Tuesday, Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe vowed to implement measures to contain regional infections, and create a system to provide sufficient medical care in cooperation with local governments and medical institutions.

News cases in Iraq and Oman



Iraq on Monday announced its first case of novel coronavirus. An Iranian national in the holy Shiite city of Najaf tested positive, a local medical source said.

Iraq has shut its Safwan border crossing with Kuwait to travelers and trade at Kuwait's request, the local mayor told Reuters on Monday.


Oman reported its first two novel coronavirus cases on Monday, Oman TV reported citing the country's health ministry. 


The two Omani women diagnosed with the coronavirus had visited Iran and are currently in stable condition, according to the report. 


Oman has since halted flights to Iran, the report added.
