Zhang Xiaogang
Painter,Artist(1958–)
张晓刚，1958年生于云南省昆明，1982年毕业于四川美术学院。
从九十年代中期开始，他运用近现代中国流行艺术的风格表现革命时代的脸谱化肖像，传达出具有时代意义的集体心理记忆与情绪。这种对社会、集体以及家庭、血缘的典型呈现和模拟是一种再演绎，是从艺术、情感以及人生的角度出发的，因而具有强烈的当代意义。他的作品是当代艺术所蕴世故的中国情境的最佳体现。
现工作生活于北京。

画家其实是在画自己，艺术家在创造物质生命的同时，他(她)还在创造另外一个生命形态，他(她)是通过艺术品来创造，这是另外一种生命的形态。我们肉体的生命肯定要死的，人马上就可以永生了，如果人不死了，其实好多事情就结束了，我们的文化可能就结束了。

The painter is actually painting himself. While the artist is creating material life, he or she is also creating another life form. He or she is creating another life form through artwork. Our physical life is bound to die, people can immediately eternal life, if people do not die, in fact, a lot of things will end, our culture may end.
