Background
Since 2010, UNDP and its partners have been working through the N-Peace Network to promote, support and publicize the efforts of grassroots peace builders from across Asia and the Pacific. N-Peace Awards recognizes individuals whose work advances the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda, and is currently active in Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Myanmar, The Philippines, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. A week long programme is planned for the winners from 8-12 January which will include:
8 Jan: N-Peace Awards Gala
Location Renaissance Ploenchit
Time: 7:00pm
- 10:00pm
Approx. 150 people
By invitation only
9-12 Jan: Capacity Building workshop
Holiday Inn
Time: 09.00 am to 5.00 pm
And throughout the week there will be Facebook lives sessions and a capacity building workshop.
N-Peace is currently seeking an intern to assist with the awards week and follow up on the reporting of the week.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Programme Specialist – Gender and Inclusion in Peacebuilding, the intern will assist with the following tasks.
Capacity Building Workshop
Assist with the capacity building workshop including:Setting up the session with the Inclusive Security and helping with the flow of the session.Helping the Nepali participant understand the content of the workshop.Provide ideas key points at the of the workshop UNDP.
N-Peace Gala
Support the event coordinator in coordinating the Gala.
Reporting reflection of the week
Assist in developing presentations on the highlights of the week and in disseminating to stakeholders.
Duration of Assignment, duty station and expected places of travel.
The Intern is required from 1 January to 13 February 2018.
Duty station will be Bangkok. No travel will be required.
Provosion of Monitoring and Progress Controls
The intern will be managed by the Programme Specialist – Gender and Inclusion in Peacebuilding.
Competencies
Ability to perform tasks in timely manner and under pressure, to tight deadlines.Able to work independently and as part of a team seamlessly using a range of modern means of communication as required.
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or;Enrolled in a final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or;Graduated with a university degree – and if selected, must start the internship within one year after graduation;Field of studies in relevant areas such as Peacebuilding, Conflict Studies, Women Peace and Security or Gender Equality would be desirable.
Experience
Previous relevant experience with UNDP or the broader UN System would be an asset.
Language
Proven fluency in English and Nepali.
Conditions:
UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring Government or institution;UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;Interns are not eligible to apply for any post (Fixed-Term Appointment, Temporary Appointment, Service Contract, Individual Contract) in UNDP during the period of the internship;Interns must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan;Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
Subsequent Employment:
There is no expectation of employment with UNDP following an internship.
