The Department of Experimental Psychology is part of the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences at UCL, one of the top-rated centres for psychology in the country, both in teaching and research. About the role
The post-holder will join the Causal Cognition Lab based in the Department of Experimental Psychology. The position starts in September 2023 and is available for 18 months in the first instance. The post-holder will work on the EPSRC project ‘Causal Counterfactual visualization for human causal decision making - A case study in healthcare’. They will be supervised by Prof David Lagnado (UCL) and will work within an interdisciplinary team led by Prof Feng Dong (University of Strathclyde). Applications should include a covering letter and CV. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B salary £35,702 - £37,548 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
About you
Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. psychology, computer science, AI, health sciences etc) and knowledge of psychological models of causal judgement. The post-holder will contribute to theoretical work on causal judgement in clinical decision making, and the design and running of psychological experiments. They should have experience in programming online studies. Strong statistical skills and fluency with R (or equivalent) are also needed and the post-holder will take the lead in writing up some of the key publications from this project.
